....aka I should have taken a bunch of pictures today but totally forgot! It was busy busy busy today with a Spanish writing lab appointment for an upcoming paper that we have, a desperately-needed laundry day, multiple grocery store runs for cupcakes for FHE (I was getting quite irritated by the end....), bloodwork done at the BYU health center, a successful FHE, and then hanging out with friends. Whew. Tomorrow will probably be just as busy! I'm not totally sure if we'll have a club meeting though, because I certainly haven't heard anything about one! We'll just have to see I guess.

...another weekend update

Whoops. Once again I had a crazy weekend and didn't update on Friday or Saturday! So here it goes.

Friday: BYU football played Middle Tennessee and we won!! Woohoo! C and I went with her brother C. and E., his roommate. After that we had some adventures at Target and Walmart, hit up the $5 movie section and bought/then watched Minority Report. Tom Cruise when he was actually good!

Saturday:prep for a cleaning check! which we passed with flying colors! Then french toast for brunch and then I took L. to IKEA to look for a rug.

Tomorrow brings more school and a desperately needed laundry day. And on Tuesday a desperately needed post-test review! here's to another (hopefully) great week!

Sooo today didn't totally turn out how I wanted, but it all worked out in the end! I woke up this morning to SNOW on the mountain....whatttt. It's not even October!

After much homeworking, I went grocery shopping with C and got THE BEST yogurt ever!!! It's called Noosa and I got this strawberry rhubarb one that blew my mind. Yummmm

After that it was more homework, dinner, and I was planning to go to the gym but E. came over and we ended up having a study group (again!) for accounting. Apparently women are better at understanding accounting than men? Haha.

Tomorrow is the first day of PYM for the semester! Let's hope it's as good of an experience as last time. And I think I'll take my accounting test in the afternoon...and then we have to prep for our first cleaning check that's on Saturday! Wish us luck!

Man! Some days I feel like I am totally losing my mind, like today! I kept misplacing my phone (and then finding it in obvious spots 10 minutes later), trying to remember what homework was due when...sigh. I should have just given in and taken a refresher nap, but no. I know if I do it will turn from refresher to 2-hour!

I had an Econ recitation today, as well as picking up a free t-shirt from the BYU Bookstore. Woohoo for free stuff! And then I fixed our printer because it wasn't reading an ink cartridge properly. Boom. Handywoman right here.

Haha this first picture...I forgot to include it with my birthday post because of all the crazy stuff that happened, but this is a lovely potato carving that I got from C's brother's apartment. I was planning on eating it but it just stayed too long in the fridge and was a little soft. But it still looked super cool!

twos-day

Nothing too exciting to report here! Today was pretty normal. I did do some grocery shopping with D and L, and then it was Clubs Night where I gave a presentation on my DX trip to Costa Rica last summer! Then it was gym time and more homework time. And now I'm off to bed a whole 15 minutes earlier :) You have to start somewhere, right?

Hopefully tomorrow will be a little more exciting. Goodnight!

FHE/HE was another success!

So apparently we aren't allowed to call FHE Family Home Evening anymore in YSA wards because of the whole definition of a family thing, etc etc. We were told that it's just HE now. But since that sounds like a high efficiency detergent and/or washer, we are now the Friendly Home Evening group-FHE with a twist! haha. Tonight was just a get-to-know everybody. I made brownies and they were a hit! I'm glad everyone else ate them so we wouldn't have any lying around our apartment.

I also had a great review for our Accounting test this week with a guy who's in my class. He was also in my Spanish 321 class with me during Winter semester!! Small world, huh?

And there isn't really anything else to report! Other than a little bit of redecorating and getting work done. Although I really do need to get to bed earlier...

weekend update

I know, I know...I didn't update the blog Friday, Saturday, or even today! Sorry sorry sorry. We did a bunch of stuff that all went a LOT longer than expected. Oops.

Friday: Discovered Biscoff spread. It's like Biscoff-flavored peanut butter. Sooo yummy on apples. Dad I know you would love it! And as a bonus those cookies always remind me of traveling to Costa Rica with you!

After that grocery run it was homework time, watched Labyrinth (yes the crazy one with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly) with L and her guy friend M (...who would like to be a little more than friends!!) and then C, went to the gym, and had a little girl's night with L and D because C had a date! Woohoo! And she stayed out super late haha...we all went to bed and she said the next morning that she got home at 3! Quite the partier. (ok she said they just talked after their tie-die date. no crazy raving or anything)

Saturday: More homework and then D and I got our nails done! It was her first mani/pedi. And I swear I will never go to a non-Asian salon because they seriously took 2-3x as long. Grr.

 Then C and I went to the HOLY WAR game. For you non-BYU people or if you are Mormon and live under a rock, the Holy War is the big BYU vs. University of Utah football game (because we're rivals). Sadly it was a bad game with terrible ref'ing and just awful passes. Seriously. Our completions stats were embarrassing.

Sunday- I had to actually teach Relief Society and I was afraid that it was totally boring. I did have lots of quotes and even a poem and stuff so at least that got the class to interact! But I feel horrible because the football game went waaaay late so I didn't bake brownies that night and I didn't get up early enough to do so for a little snack and lesson tie-in about "brownie points in heaven" for doing selfless service. Whoops.

We also had a big rain front move through that cooled us all down so S and J and I made some stovetop s'mores. Super fun!

 Then it was back for ward prayer and writing missionary letters. hopefully I'll be more consistent this week in writing every day!

belated birthday and a broken computer

Well! It has certainly been an interesting week. Why the lack of blogging? Because my computer died. ON MY BIRTHDAY. It was horrible horrible horrible. Even with me being relatively tech-savvy and able to figure a lot of stuff out on my own, this one had me in tears. But never fear, because everything turned out all right! Here's a recap of the week.

Tuesday: I was up very early working on Amateur Radio Club stuff.

first it was A's birthday. NOW IT'S MY TURN.

Everything was fine until I woke up at 7 to do some homework...and got the white screen of death. Uh oh.

So I called Apple Support to figure out what was wrong...and they told me that Tuesday was literally the worst possible day to have this happen because all their computers were down for a software update because of the new iPhones and stuff coming out. Great.

Luckily I was able to take it to a repair shop and it was a cable attached to the hard disk, not the entire hard disk like we feared.

The weather did nothing to improve my mood.

I went to my Amateur Radio meeting and that was ok, I didn't present my little talk on my trip to Costa Rica but that was actually very alright.

After that I took my roomies to P.F. Chang's for a birthday dinner and it was fabulous. I'm so happy that something good came of a bad day...

Yesterday was the usual school/homework grind. I picked up my computer and got to work right away. And on the way to the gym there was this gorgeous full moon.

And today I was running all over the place! I had classes, then I participated in a research experiment (where I earned some cash! sweet!), and had a study group with HH for humanities! Then it was off to the gym for yoga (so good to get back into some exercise classes!) and finishing homework and relaxing.

Today was pretty meh. I had laundry to do and lots of homework! And then we had our first FHE at Bro W's house in Orem and played charades which was pretty sweet. I gave the spiritual thought and then we had some yummy treats. Then I went to the gym. Tomorrow I have more homework (boo) and my first Spanish paper to write. ¡Qué chevre!

Today I headed to the W's for a little birthday celebration! They are the best and even made my favorite dessert and requested dinner (yellow cake with chocolate frosting and shish kabobs!). And Pa and Louise were there too! Fun fun fun.

Side note: I was officially set apart today for my calling as an FHE group leader AND I ended up not having to teach Relief Society! Woohoo!

I also met my FHE partner and he isn't crazy! (haha that was my biggest fear). And tomorrow our activity is heading to a member of the bishopric's house so we don't even have to plan anything except for a spiritual thought woohoo!

And that's it! Life is pretty good. And here's to t-minus two days until it's my final year as a teenager! How scary is that?!

STUFFED Saturday!

A Taste of the Valley was so much fun! The food was delicious and I was stuffed for the rest of the day. My personal favorite was (of course) the booth that the owners of Communal had...roasted corn in shallot butter and poached apples in vinegar with pomegranates. YUM. (You can see them in the lower right hand corner.) Today I also got a lot of homework done, jammed with some friend, ran some errands, and we all (our apartment) went to the dollar theater to see World War Z. SO GOOD AND SCARY. For my family-it was basically Contagion but with zombies. Ooooh. I've decided the dollar theater is the way to go and why the heck was I paying $8+ before?

And today was boring but tonight way fun! I took a pretest for Doctrine and Covenants, did some homework, made dinner, and had some french toast dessert with C and L, then we went and played baseball with some boys! Pretty fun and I actually got some good hits off! I guess it's that Suzy Q Softball showing through...
Today was C's Pday so I got some emails from her! Awesome! I guess one of her companions has had some health problems so they take her to the Dr's and pass the Riv along the way! How awesome is that?
Tomorrow D and I are going to "A Taste of the Valley" in the afternoon, which is a bunch of boutiques and food samples from local stores all around Utah Valley. It should be fun! But for now I need to go to bed so I can get up and go workout before that!

Tomorrow I have class, a Doctrine and Covenants pre-test, and hopefully some fun stuff planned in between doing laundry and preparing my RS lesson. Yay. We'll see how this weekend goes!

aaand there were a lot more but those were some pretty solid ones. No joke even though they're messing around some of them made me cry!!! Guess that's a side effect of writing all your friends that day.

Besides getting a bunch of homework done, making dinner (mom I made spicy honey chicken and it was pretty good!!!), organizing my room, doing a ton of dishes, and chauffeuring poor L around to try and get a SS # because she's an international student, we were able to add some more decor to our place! It's quite eclectic but feels very homey. And most of it is L's that she got in Australia or Kenya when she lived there, so it's very cool.

For those not in the know a cronut is this crazy pastry that's a cross between a donut and a croissant that this baker in New York has come up with. It sounds devilishly delicious. Well, I'm off to bed to actually get some sleep. Good night all!
