adios idaho

Whew. Well, I'm not looking forward to going back to Provo, because it's seriously TWO WEEKS until finals! How crazy is that. Honestly. But this little getaway was so fun, especially because I was with my family again and we had such a fun time, ate some delicious food and learned some family history!

We also took some rockin family photos, I'll show some of the best ones here haha.

We also went to Red Robin as kind of another birthday celebration for k. and of course! she got the singing/dancing/free ice cream deal.

happy happy birthday from all of us to you,
we wish it was our birthday, so we could party too
HEY

para el padre

Even though I am seriously spending all my time with my family my Dad still insisted that I update my blog. So here you go!

Thursday/Thanksgiving: A delicious feast as usual, thanks to the fearless aunt who sliced her finger off (nearly) and Mom and Grandma. Had some fun with dinner questions and charades and some projects that were finished today and were TOTALLY WICKED as the kid on the trike from The Incredibles says.

My family does believe in Black Friday shopping, starting at midnight or even 10:45 pm on Thursday if the deals are good...so at 10:45 we headed off to the mall to check out Sears, Sephora, and H&M!

selfies. oh yeah.

in sears with no idea of what dad is doing/where he is
(don't worry we found him about 30 secs later)

j.crew didn't open until 6 am. boooo

Friday: We slept in since we got home at about 1 am, and then it was catch-up time to finish our awesome projects. I made a table runner that was Christmas themed (and I sewed it myself! so crafty!!!) and the uncles and boys handmade these little bottle rockets. We got to test them and 1/4 ended up being pretty awesome!
working hard.

consequence of stealing my phone=your photos on mah blog :)

yeah!
And that's all! Tomorrow we're going to take some Christmas card photos (hopefully) and we'll see what other adventures happen. These past few days have seriously been like two weeks; I'm dreading going back to school!

REUNITED and it feels so good

I made it safely to B and R's last night, but I couldn't get any internet so there was no update yesterday. The only really noteworthy thing is that I got a 92 on my Humanities test! Woohoo! And then today we (the Utah Olsons and I) drove up together to Idaho where my Olson's met up with us!

I woke up to this....

said goodbye to enzo...
And then we were off. Tonight it was so fun to catch up and I'm so excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow! And I get to introduce the family to dirty Diet Cokes...oh yeah.

Sadly Lilly did not come with the fam, she stayed home in California with some friends. We got this hilarious picture tonight...that girl is too big for her britches! (do people even use this expression anymore? I feel like it conveys this pretty well...)

Yep, that would be our terrier taking over the black lab's bed. What. An. Attitude. Seriously, that girl...

christmas countdown

Yep you read that correctly! Tonight we had many adventures and by the end had a CHRISTMAS TREE in our family room all pretty and lit up and decorated. I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS.

In other news, tonight we had soup and popovers for dinner. I love popovers. My roommates love popovers. Everybody loves popovers. It's great.

some popped more than others.
and YES i know some were a little crispy. Our oven is whack
what else do you want from me

THE TREE

tah-dah!

I also took a pretty cool pic of it all lit up and the lights out but for some reason it won't download. Sigh.

Last but not least...in two days I will be in Idaho with my family! Yahoo!

thanksgiving countdown

So close yet so far...is pretty much the story of my life! Today was a good Sunday, with all three church meetings then a fun dinner/game night/laundry/S's culinary adventure for dessert. Then it was home in time for The Walking Dead and remaking my bed so I can get to sleep!

In other news, I sustained some injuries from my epic fall at ice skating last night...(cue unflattering fat knee pics).

Side note: I was going to post some pictures but then I forgot that I hadn't shaved my legs yet (thank you jeans and tights weather) so...never mind. Blonde hair is awesome but in the light sometimes you can still see it...

Tomorrow brings two classes and then packing and grading papers and FHE! Woohoo. I'm ready for this break. Come at me, turkey and stuffing and pie and football and parades and family! Yahoo!

Friday+Saturday

Friday: School, date to Catching Fire, good times.

Saturday: BYU ARC project at school, adventure to find macarons for L, 3 hour nap (whoops), ice skating, good times, read a book, off to bed.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THANKSGIVING and even better: my Tuesday classes were cancelled! Idaho I'm coming for you!

thursday/thorsday

I hope your day started off better than mine did! I accidentally woke up at 9:40....you know, even though I have a class at 9:30! Luckily we had a sub that day so it wasn't a big deal. It certainly got my adrenaline level up for today, though!

After classes today the roommates and I hit up Costco for the basics, checked out some awesome and overpriced Christmas trees, and then headed home so I could get to a Spanish lab in time. Then it was homework, dinner, yoga, and more homework! I'm excited for the weekend and can't wait for Thanksgiving (1 week to go!).

halfway through the week!

Today was a good day! I finished my Economics homework early, had some black bean burgers and homemade baked sweet potato fries for dinner, went to the gym, graded my first set of Math 112 homework (and felt very powerful while doing so. and went "how do these kids not know what sigma notation is"), took a shower, and am headed to bed!

As another fun thing I did today I took this cool "brain test" to see whether you are right or left brained. The not-too-exciting results are below!

wow. I guess this has to do with the fact that I have trouble
choosing one side or another?

how is it only tuesday

Who here isn't ready for the holidays to start?! I feel like this week is dragging on and on because I am so excited to see my family and celebrate Thanksgiving! Ah. Anyway, today was full of classes, being officially cleared for a job (!), Amateur Radio Club meetings, and nail painting parties.

All in the midst of a dreary, rainy day! So here's a quick pic recap before I head to bed.

setting up my clock to time in!

did you know that "selfie" was just added to the Oxford Dictionary?
so here ya go.

tomorrow I can hopefully hit up the gym (....our ARC meeting went waaaay longer than it should have = no gym tonight) and get more homework done so I can get ready to head to Boise!!

whew

This is waaaay later than I wanted it to be because I realized as I was showering that I had forgotten to take an accounting pretest and needed to start it in the next 20 minutes to get credit! Luckily I made it through and missed 1 problem! Whew!

Today was busy; with planning FHE and trying to get my grader job set up. I needed to get my SS card from FedEx and get it processed by 5, guess what time it actually arrived...

yep. because that's the way my luck has been going.

On the other hand, I got a lot of homework done and I'd like to think that people had fun at FHE. We played Thanksgiving Pictionary and made some turkeys.

not exactly pinterest perfect...

full plumage in the back of one
So I'll say it again-whew. But I survived today and tomorrow should be (hopefully!) less stressful. Goodnight all!

sunday was indeed a fun day

Tonight I had the opportunity to head over to Katie J's in Holladay for a little Los Altos/California reunion! From now on we will be called the California Diner's Club. Just for fun.

here we all are!

Not a bad looking bunch, eh? Now after some Walking Dead I need to go to bed (see what I did there?). Hope everyone's week starting tomorrow is great! I'm certainly hoping mine will be so I can make it to Thanksgiving...

saturday is a special day

Saturday was more of a busy day, but fun nonetheless! We had cleaning checks all morning (which we passed with flying colors!), watched BYU cream the ISU Bengals 59-13, and then went to the dollar theater so C and D could FINALLY watch Austenland and see what L and I have been talking about. After that C and I went on an adventure to find the "the glory of God is intelligence" quote on campus and I actually knew where it was! (on the back of the library for those interested!). Then we all played some card games and are headed to bed.

found it!

mission accomplished.

chillin in the Tanner building on the way back home
Tomorrow L is giving the RS lesson, and then I'm heading up to Katie J's for dinner! So excited to see her since it's been a while!

here's to the weekend!

Well well well. Today was quite crazy! I was interviewed for an article about BYU's Amateur Radio Club, am now a grader for a Math 112 class, went to the lighting at the Riverwoods, and had a good time with roommates tonight! Now it's late and I HAVE to go to bed because of wonderful cleaning checks tomorrow. Yay.

we seriously walked up right as all the lights went on. ah-mazing!!

they had everything...including an ice sculpture! of course!
c and I hit up the waffle truck and all i can say is
that it is DEFINITELY worth the hype.
three words: pumpkin pie waffle.

Wednesday and Thursday

Whew! It's been busy but now most of my schoolwork is done for the week. Hopefully I can relax this weekend...except it's cleaning checks. Boo...

So Wednesday was crazy because I took my Econ test (which ended up ok!), got my free tote from sweetgreen, and had a nice chat with my good friend T. Plus I got started on my Study Abroad app! We'll see how it goes.

woohoo for free stuff!
(..it's supposed to be like "please don't kill my vibe")
Thursday aka today: pretty great! Classes were all good, then we did some grocery shopping and I made it to yoga again! I'm dedicated to going a lot more than I have been because it's definitely fun and challenging (think like another 50 sun salutations today...).

Tomorrow I need to prep for cleaning checks, get some homework done, go to PYM and then (surprise!) the BYU ARC is getting interviewed for the BYU magazine! How exciting is that? I'll let you all know how it went tomorrow. It's off to bed now!

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Another day done!

Whew! Today was quite productive with lots of reviews and homework and projects! But I'm feeling a lot more prepared for my Econ test tomorrow and my Spanish essay, which is great. And I will (hopefully) even make it to bed before midnight! Woohoo!

yes, this is a study spot.
believe it or not!

how is it only Monday

I swear it should be like a Wednesday tomorrow! Oh well. Today we had a great FHE where I taught my group how to play The Great Dalmuti card game that everyone loved, made some pumpkin coffee cake for them (but had to use whole wheat flour and I thought it was horribly healthy tasting but my group said they liked it....), got some homework done, and am trying to prepare for my Econ test that I can take tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm hoping I can take it tomorrow but we will have to see how prepared I feel.

And since today was Monday...that means missionary letters!

don't you just love how they both call me kerjerster?!
miss those fools.

I also came across a very simple but moving little tribute for Veteran's/Armistice Day here at the Riv. Beautiful.

very cool.

In other news, I have stayed up too late but did catch this:

yes I know it's technically 23:11...but it looks cool!
And that's all, folks! We'll see how tomorrow goes and if I take that test or not!

sunday funday

Stake conference, delicious dinner, game night and the Walking Dead made for not-too-shabby of a Sunday! Tomorrow brings lots of review for an Econ test on Tuesday and FHE.

PS-check out this AWESOME hairdo that C did for me! Getting back to my roots....

milkmaid!

Saturday, November 9, 2013

saturday was quite a relaxing day!

Today was AWESOME. I actually got to relax, read some books for fun, and went on the elliptical! And then going to bed two nights in a row before midnight is just the icing on the cake. Tomorrow is stake conference so that should be fun too! Now it's off to bed.
Not very exciting, but hey, that's the life!

Friday, November 8, 2013

thursday and today!

Thursday was pretty busy, with a lot of studying and essay revising. Today was super great! Today's activity for the community service group that I help with at BYU was a private tour of the football stadium, which was waaaay cool. L and I saw Austenland (....again) at the dollar theater, and then I headed over to the W's for a weekend of fun!

inside the press box

inside the locker room

on to the field!

my buddy and me.

awkward mentor/mentee pic.
don't worry we aren't this awkward in real life.

And on another note-the restaurant right outside the Riv closed, and a new one is moving in. They've been painting it crazy colors and today these crazy giant heads show up...we'll have to see what happens! I'll let you all know.

just a little creepy...
And also-while I've been here, I started and finished The Hiding Place and it moved me to tears. It is such an amazing story of faith and love during WWII and is just beautiful. So if you want a not-feel-good but yes-feel-good book this is the one for you!
