lazy sunday

Can you believe that tomorrow is the last day of March? This month has flown by!! Today was relaxed-I slept in (love that 10:40 church), had a Snapchat war with the roomie, went to the W's, rode along to a fireside by Steven Kapp Perry, and came back for the season finale of The Walking Dead and missionary letters. Not bad at all.

This week shouldn't be too crazy, I just need to work on my Infection and Immunity paper. Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything...

holy Holi

That's right.. I finally made it to the Festival of Colors! But not before finishing up the Boy Scout Radio Merit badges for 4 hours this morning. All right!

script, radio, and inky hands. check.
Then we made it to Holi, which was so so so much fun. Although I think my lungs probably look like a rainbow now. Check it out!

they do color tosses every hour, we just missed it as we walked in..

look at those studs.

m's face=impressionist painting.

i don't know why this girl couldn't wait ten seconds...

the gang! look how white our teeth are!

roomies!

yep we had to walk through spanish fork...

woohoo for the weekend!

Tomorrow brings the powwow, so tonight was kind of low-key. Just hanging out with friends and even a quick trip to the Cocoa Bean because they passed out free cupcakes and free drink coupons the other night!

quite the funny combo of drink names.

And hopefully along with the powwow will be the Festival of Colors/Holi! But we'll have to see. Hopefully awesome pics to come :)

lab day

Thursday is my MLS lab day, and today we did lots of tests to figure out what specific type of gram positive bacteria we had! Lots of gram staining and then other tests that we'll have to check up on over the weekend. Nerdy but I find it very cool :)

Today I also made it to yoga (namaste), ran into a friend from back home there, and then came home and chatted with my roomies and some friends who came over. Now I'm off to bed because I need to finish a paper tomorrow and get more homework done in the morning....sigh.

all registered!!

I'm all set for Fall classes, which is just insane to me. This semester (and year!) is flying by. We have less than a month until it's all over...crazy crazy!

For those interested, here's my schedule as of now:

genetics, spanish linguistics, chemistry, technical writing,
and not pictured is the waitlist for humanities part two.

To top it all off, today, in typical Utah weather-style, IT SNOWED. At first it rained, then it snowed hard, but then it turned into a slush and then back to rain. But honestly...it's supposed to be a high of 60 (albeit cloudy) on Monday. What. The. Heck.

not happy.

And then tonight was full of taxes along with said schedule scheduling.

plus a little mulan on the side.
I'm very grateful (to say the least) for my 2 pm class tomorrow. Sleep here I come!

club night

Today was pretty good, because a) I got a lovely package from home! and b) we had a great turnout for our Fox Hunt/Scavenger Hunt tonight!

gasp! for me?

yay! And of course I'm wearing it right now.
I do have to mention that it's light now during club hours, so we definitely got several looks in our direction tonight.

s was riding around on his bike holding his antenna.
we're quite a recognizable bunch.
And then it was yoga time and now I'm off to bed! I have a quiz tomorrow, homework, and taxes to be done. Whew.

monday monday

today was not very exciting. Just the usual class/homework/FHE (tonight it was the stake Spring Sing)/gym grind. Although I did get started on my taxes (<-- that's for you Dad) and have a good laugh at some BuzzFeed quizzes. Excited for a new day tomorrow and am ready to get all that I need to get done this week!

the usual sunday schedule

Today was nothing too crazy, just the usual church/dinner with the W's/ward prayer. We also had a fireside tonight but I will admit that I had a hard time paying attention...oops. Tomorrow I have so much to do! But at least no more midterms. Woohoo!

weekend update!

The second half of the week was insane! So prepare for a giant update.

Thursday: Took my test, thought I did okay; actually did not do okay. Went to yoga. Kind of sulked, I will admit.

Friday: Went up to Salt Lake with a friend from our Study Abroad prep class as an assignment to practice taking public transportation and planning trips. We visited and actually even went through Vespers at the Cathedral of the Madeline and it was so much fun. Just talking about our trip and all our plans- I'm ready for finals and to head overseas! Ahh! So so so cool.

I died over this adorable candle!

the catholics do know how to do their organs.

practicing that "my face and a famous thing" look.
suggestions?
Saturday: Cleaning checks, lunch, Divergent, and game night!! So much fun. And then introducing D to Snapchat.... in a word-hilarious. Good times and church should be great as usual tomorrow! Goodnight!

midweek madness

Alright everyone! It's official-my flights for Spain are purchased! This is really happening and part of me can't even believe it!!!!! I'm so excited and I keep telling myself I just have to get through finals before it can happen :)

In other news, I finished The Mortal Instruments series today (or at least through book 5), did homework, hit the gym (although I'm still feeling the effects of yoga yesterday!), and even made some banana chocolate chip muffins with wheat flour to be a little healthier! Yum. And now I'm off to bed a little early so I can get up early and study for my MLS blood typing quiz. Seriously-just get me started talking about my Infection and Immunity class or MLS lab and I can go for days. They're just so fascinating and I sometimes can't believe that my own body has all these amazing processes going on! So very very cool.

labs and powerpoints

Man, as much as I love my Study Abroad prep class, it certainly throws a wrench into dinnertime. Luckily, today our MMBio lab got out early so I could grab a snack before presenting about Granada in our prep class that goes til 5:30 pm. And then I have ARC at 7 and yoga at 8...who would've thought that Tuesdays would be a crazy day!

Other than that, there's nothing more to report here except the usual homework/study grind. I'm planning on taking my midterm on Thursday; wish me luck! Tomorrow will be pretty regular (and actually most of the rest of the week will be too), but I'll try to find the fun in the mundane!

pinch me and I'll punch you

Or in other words, Happy St. Patrick's Day! Haha the title is a lovely tweet from A. Too funny. There were certainly a lot of people getting into the spirit for St. Patrick's Day at BYU! The best by far was this guy:

yep, that's the full kilt/bagpipe combo. he even gave a little
mini-concert.
And I got this hilarious email today: because I've used JibJab before, they insert your past faces into whatever they're currently advertising. I died.

ahhh sister hardester.

Then I went down to Spanish Fork for an oil change and a delicious dinner of corned beef and cabbage! Many o'thanks to the Burke clan for their cookin'.

this was the cutest little shop dog that sat by the heater to stay
warm in this crazy windy weather.

Hope the luck of the Irish was with everyone today! And happy half birthday to me! Fun fact, did you know that I shared it with this green holiday?

a good sabbath day.

Today was good! D and K gave talks in Sacrament meeting and then the other D gave the lesson in Sunday School! Then it was off to the W's for some laundry and good BBQ chicken. Delicious. Plus I got to hear all about the Disneyland trip! So fun. And I got to see their daffodils! Could spring be here?!

This week I just have an MMBio midterm, and hopefully it will be my last before finals! Eeeep! They are only about a month away...how crazy is that? And next week I register for Fall 2014 classes. Time flies. Good thing I'm having fun!

powwows and other events

Today was really fun! I woke up early and made it to the BYU Boy Scout Powwow and taught some radio classes from 9-12:30 with A, the club president, and J, who's involved with a lot of the Scouts in radio and other community radio organizations.

snapping a quick pic! hey j!
And then we got some refreshments and free t-shirts. All right! The timing was perfect today, because I had to see the film No at the International Cinema (which I highly recommend) at 1:30, so I could just head on over after we were done teaching!

love me some free tee's.
Then after the film was over it was time for our ward activity with the 122nd ward and it was kind of a bust but at least we got free J. Dawg's for dinner! So that's ok. Then I took a nap and watched The Italian Job with C. Definitely a good weekend.

pi day

Happy 3.14! Today was too much fun. For mentoring, we took the kids to the little BYU Math Pi Day faire and won lots of sweet prizes. Then C and I visited Ch at the MOA where she works and had a delicious lunch. And after homework, we laughed our guts out with friends. Good night tonight and a good night to you all!

pie-eating contest. cheering on the mentors!

Pie a professor in the face.

almost went to this but our redheaded friend
couldn't make it.

the elusive waitress hiding from the paparazzi :)

look I'm in NY on spring break! jk I'm at the MOA in the middle of midterms
because BYU doesn't believe in that kind of thing.

made it!

And Thursday is over! I woke up this morning to study hard for both my MLS quiz and my Infection & Immunity midterm, then in the afternoon went to my MLS lab, where I took said quiz, felt great about it, and then got to go on a hospital lab tour! Nothing that I hadn't seen before ;) Then I went home to finalize I&I study objectives, took I&I....and got an 84 on the multiple choice, which I'm pretty happy about!

can you spot my line?

Then I ran over to yoga and relaxed for about 40 minutes, but had to pack up early so I could run home to be net control for our BYU-I and BYU joint net! I thought it went well, we had a minor issue with the repeater disconnecting halfway through but I thought we all handled it and had a great turnout of 15 hams!

the haphazard setup.

Which, speaking of ham radio, I have to volunteer at a Boy Scout Powwow this weekend from 9-12:30 that I am not necessarily looking forward to....but I understand that it's a good thing to do. Sigh. At least tomorrow I just have to finish some homework, go to class and the last day of PYM and then I can hopefully catch a little bit of a break!

work-through-it Wednesday

Tomorrow is the big day- my Infection and Immunity midterm and my MLS quiz. I'm feeling much more prepared for my I/I midterm than last time, which is great! I just really want to do well on it because last time was not so great. It really makes a difference having your midterms spaced out rather than four of them in three days!

So the plan is to study study study all morning and then head to lab, take my MLS quiz and then study a little more and take my I/I exam in time for yoga at 8 and then a special amateur radio net at 9. I'll let you know how it goes! Wish me luck :) Especially you guys who are off enjoying yourselves at the happiest place on Earth without me :( Keep the pictures coming though so I can be there in spirit!

taking care of business

Another busy day! Except it should've been a little busier but I unfortunately (but also fortunately) slept in late this morning. Oh well. Lots of lab work, homework, studying, ARC work, and finally some yoga and then more studying.

Today for our club meeting it was a giant shack clean out and oh man was there a lot to clean!

Just look at that panorama! We ended up giving a lot away or just recycling/tossing it. We also got BYU custodial to help deep clean the shack and fix our clock, woohoo! IT was probably the most daylight some of those corners have seen in a long time.

Now I'm off to bed because I need to wake up early to study for a MMBio quiz tomorrow that is not what I've been using all my study time for because of my midterm on Thursday! Wish me luck and let's get down to business!

Monday funday

Today was actually pretty good for a Monday! I got a lot of working and studying done, and then for FHE we had our reward dinner for winning the indexing competition and we went to Red Robin, which was delicious.

look at those good-looking folks!

And earlier today I also got my Spanish test back and got a 93! Then I took my Living Prophets midterm and got a 96! Let's hope the trend continues for my Infection & Immunity midterm on Thursday...

tah-dah! identifying 5 out of 7 poems, then vocab, then a mini-essay.
whew.
Tomorrow brings homework in the morning, maybe even a quick trip to the gym if I get up early, lab, BYU ARC, and yoga. And lots of studying for quizzes and midterms! At least this time my midterms are over two weeks instead of that horrible all-in-one last time. Dodged a bullet with that one!

fast sunday

Today was Fast Sunday for our ward since we had stake conference last week...and I actually made it all the way from breakfast until 4 pm! New record! Ha ha. C and I had to occupy ourselves with thoughts other than food in the afternoon, so our home teachers came over and taught a lovely lesson and then C played around with my hair. Because she's a genius like that and I am clearly not!

hairdo #1

'do number 2. how crazy is that fishtail with my highlights?

Then it was off to the W's for a delicious dinner and dessert of key lime pie, some rounds of the Great Dalmuti, and back home for ward prayer and The Walking Dead which was actually exciting this episode! Tomorrow I need to take my Living Prophets midterm and we have our reward for winning the ward indexing competition :) it should be delicious and fun!

service saturday

Today was the Rex Lee Run, and I'm proud to say that the BYU Amateur Radio Club did an awesome job of running the communications net there and helping runners as needed! It wasn't very fun waking up early, but today was a beautiful day and it was really neat to help out.

my gear

i was positioned at the start and finish lines

Then after the run, C went to play some Ultimate Frisbee and I tagged along (I was a cheerleader though, not a player) to enjoy the beautiful preview to spring.

go team go!
I think I may have even gotten a little pink-cheeked! Woohoo for warm, breezy weather, even if we're supposed to get another little storm Monday/Tuesday.

I also got these photos from home-can you tell I miss this little lady?!?!

lola in a raincoat. YOU CAN'T GET CUTER THAN THAT.

urban camouflage.

and she's officially registered with the city!
