here we go!!!

This weekend was insane. And now, in less than 12 hours...I will be boarding a plane for Spain!!! I won't be using this blog to document all my adventures, so if you want to follow the fun, head on over to aswedeinspain.blogspot.com and watch it there.

home sweet home

Finals are over, I'm back home in California, and I leave for Spain in four days!! Last night we had a last-minute bonfire and cleaning checks, then it was goodbye and back to the W's before leaving early this morning. It was sad to leave Provo and everyone behind, but it's also good to be back :)

Happy Easter!!!!

a and k back in the day

I had a wonderful Easter. If you haven't watched it yet, check out the #becausehelives video. Love love love. I don't have a ton of time because it is nose to the grindstone time, but I will say that today was well spent with family and friends and it was just the invigorating day to get me back into gear and ready to finish strong. I just need to make it through the next three days! Then all will be well.

and so it begins

I finally mustered up the courage to start packing today. I think I had been avoiding it because packing means that it really is the end of the semester and we'll all be parting ways soon. Sniff sniff. And man alive do I have a lot of stuff...

wowza.

And we did get to catch Captain America: The Winter Soldier at the cheapo theater as a bit of a break. Check out my master artist roomie:

man i'm going to miss her!

I'm excited for Easter Sunday tomorrow and all the promise that it brings. Especially with the fresh start of a new place and new countries, it's always good to take a step back and remember the things that matter most (I'm lookin at you, family in Los Altos :). Here's to the start of another week and all the adventures it will bring!

three to go

The countdown is on and it's honestly terrifying. I took my Living Prophets today, ended up with an A- (not bad!)-now it's just time to study for MMBio, Spanish, and my Infection and Immunity. I attended another review tonight and hope to study throughout the weekend but enjoy Easter Sunday with the W's and Pa! And pack. I'm kind of dreading it because that really means that it's time to go...

sitting on some babies

Today I was able to head up to Holladay and babysit the cute J family! It was all day, so we certainly had our highs and lows, but I loved to see them all again and enjoy their lovely new home.

Four to go, three down, two reviews, and one concert

Tuesday: Took my MLS final (96!), had a study abroad prep class fiesta, SAW ANDY GRAMMAR and the National Parks in concert. Good times. That makes three finals down, four to go on Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

the gang

the national parks aka some mumford and sons wannabes.
andy!!
some girl held up a sign asking to sing with him, and
he said yes!

That was pretty awesome. Today was a bit of a struggle. I had two reviews, made some important phone calls/scheduling events, and was supposed to pack but didn't get a lot done. Then it was Tucano's for dinner (!!) because of a ward activity. How awesome is that?! Tomorrow I'm off to babysit the J's up in Holladay! Fun fun. And then it's more studying and packing. Not so fun fun.

Last day of classes

Today was my last day of classes! Tomorrow I would have lab but since we finished last week, I just get to study and take my MLS final. Then it's a Study Abroad fiesta and the ANDY GRAMMAR CONCERT!!!

How exciting is that? It will honestly be my third time seeing him in concert, but I still can't wait! I'm expecting another great show :)

Sunday funday and the countdown begins

Today was pretty good. I woke up in time for ward council, made it to church, hit up break the fast with the ward, went to the W's for a delicious dinner and some laundry, came home, called home, wrote missionaries, planned the week out. The official countdown stands at two weeks and one day before I fly out!!! And one week and three days before finals are done!! The end is near, friends-the end is near and I don't know if I'm ready for it! Wish me luck.

weekend catchup

Whoops. It's been a while.

Thursday-Finished my Spanish paper!

Friday-Took my 241 exam, went to a Brasilian music event hosted by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese for extra credit. Ran into D there too! Finally got C to watch Galaxy Quest.

think Bossa Nova for two hours straight.

Today-Temple trip with the ward at the Timpanogos temple. Lion King sing-a-long. Homework. International Cinema trip to see the last Spanish film of the year.

And now I really need to go to bed since I need to go to church early for a meeting (how exciting.) at 9. So maybe not early for some...but early for me!

made it to mid-week!

Whew. It's late. Lots of work done today, more work to do tomorrow; I'm looking at my final Spanish paper (a literary analysis of San Manuel bueno, mártir por Miguel de Unamuno), my written 241 test, but then the last yoga class of the semester to de-stress. And the countdown is at 19 days! Spain here I come.

feeling taxed after today

....because I finished my taxes! What a horrible pun :) Today finally felt like spring! I got up early, did homework, went to the gym, and then took my practical final for MMBio 241, which hopefully went well!

This evening we had the closing social for ARC, and we had a great turnout with some yummy pizza and s'mores. Plus some bocci ball and beanbag tosses! The weather was just perfect for a party.

And in other news-what do you think of the new blog format? I changed it up so that you can link to my Instagram on the side, but we'll see if I keep it this way or not. And speaking of Instagram-I'm in a contest for BYU, so if you have one, head on over to @byusa or instagram.com/byusa and like this photo below so I can win!!

monday monday monday

Well, today was productive, but not productive enough because I have a towering pile of work to be done! With my lab finals this week and then real finals next Friday...it's a scary thought! But today wasn't all work.
got this cute picture from mom and a who are off to
legoland!!
We had dinner at the W's, and so A and M and I went to the grocery store to grab some french bread. We had the sunroof open...and A was wearing a new hat from BYU...and when trying to look out said sunroof, physics worked its magic and the hat flew off. So we had quite an adventure to rescue the (miraculously) undamaged hat. Pretty funny.

back in the car!
Tomorrow brings the ARC closing social, my practical exam, and taxes. Ugh. At least our closing social will be fun!

general conference day 2

What a great weekend! I love listening to General Conference and hearing uplifting messages that will help me for the next six months. In some not so uplifting news, I totally forgot I had a bunch of homework tomorrow so I've been doing that ever since I got home from the W's. Wish me luck this week as I take my two lab finals!! And don't forget:

isn't this cute? I got it off a fun blog.

general conference day 1

Breakfast with the roomies, apartment hunting with D, and then lunch and afternoon session. Then it was off to the W's to say hi to the D's who are in town from Washington! So fun!

random but fun-got some old mail for a former tenant
that looks familiar....

come listen to a prophet's voice!

watching these cuties put on a show tonight :)

let the weekend begin!

Whew. Today was long. I went to a review in addition to all my classes, plus I got our forms for reimbursement finalized (all for the BYU ARC closing social next week!). Tonight was an easy night with C and D and now it's off to bed! I can't wait to listen to General Conference tomorrow.

the countdown begins!

Today I got my backpack from the Kennedy Center for my Spain trip!!! I cannot believe that it's this month. Seriously, it's like only 26 days away!

and in my favorite pattern!

They had a bunch to choose from, but I just loved the polka dots on this one! There was a solid navy blue one that I liked as well but heaven knows I can't resist some nice dots :) So so exciting! It feels more real ever day that we get closer to take-off!

some scholarly musings

I finished my Infection and Immunity paper tonight! I wrote about the Ebola virus and possible treatments, especially for those affected by the outbreak in Guinea.

sometimes it's hard to read scholarly articles, though.
So glad that that's out of the way! This week I should have a little more free time so I really need to start prepping for finals. I can't believe it's April! Usually March drags on and on but not this year. Crazy!
