A normal Sunday, por fin!!!

I've been working on a Spanish test all weekend, hence the Spanglish title. Today was finally a normal Sunday, even though we've been at school for a month. Due to the Ogden temple rededication, regional stake conference, and the upcoming general conference, we haven't had a "normal" Sunday in a long time! So it was good to get back into the swing of things.

A weekend update: last night I saw The Maze Runner and loved it! I've read the series, and to be honest, I liked the movie better than the book. It was the book to a t but with a little more intensity and some good heart-stopping moments :) I also skyped home to this poltergeist; the funny thing is that it was absolutely pouring here in Utah when it was totally sunny back home!

it's a ghost!

I also caught this awesome picture on Friday-Utah can be pretty, I guess.

and check out that new life sciences building!

And a brag moment-I made some delicious coconut chicken curry with naan and sesame snap peas. Mmmm.

Tomorrow brings my physiology test and the start of Fall? That's with a question mark because it's supposed to finally start cooling down, but who knows. Considering last week it was still 87 degrees..

Thursday?!

The days are like weeks, but the weeks are like days! Another weekend coming up, but this time I have two tests. Booo. Tonight I ran the BYU Amateur Radio net and even though we didn't have a lot of people, we had some great discussions!

Addendum to Monday

This should have been included in yesterday's post, but I totally forgot!

dang!
Trish and I went with some friends yesterday to see the first screening of Meet the Mormons, but they gave away more tickets than seats in the theater. It was fun to be a part of their social media campaign and get some free wristbands though!

Tuesdays are always my busiest day and I really don't like it :( But we had a good turnout at our Amateur Radio Club meeting today (3 new members!), and tomorrow is halfway through the week! Too bad I have TWO midterms this weekend....yuck!

Officially official and a birthday dinner

Look what was waiting for me in my office today...

yes!

I'm so official!! Too bad no one will know how to actually pronounce my name, but that's okay.

Tonight a family friend was in town, and kindly offered to take me to dinner in celebration of my birthday. It was great to catch up at eat at the Art City Trolley again.

we DID NOT eat all this food. lots of sampling and boxes.

It's almost the weekend! This week has been so crazy I can almost feel the r&r that will happen tomorrow evening, Saturday, and Sunday. So close but far.

Happy Birthday to me!

I was actually able to celebrate a little bit today, thanks to my awesome friends! For instance, I woke up this morning to the smell of pancakes-and discovered that my roommate Danielle made me breakfast!

Then my mom sent some adorable throwback pictures of me quite a few birthdays ago......

Thank you to my family for all the fun cards!!

After work and class Trish and I ran to Green Panda and got some Chinese food for dinner. While we were there I checked the missionary map to see if somebody was still on there...and they were!!!! I'm going to email Chandler Shimai this picture on Sunday :)

Then it was off to interviews with the Bishop and then back home. Now I'm off to bed!

even BYU knew it was my birthday!!

Buckle Up!

This week is going to be crazy! In a crazy busy way, unfortunately, not a crazy party week for my BIRTHDAY that's on Wednesday! Today I was up on campus from 9 am until 6 pm, and that's pretty much how it's going to be (if not later!) all week. But I should get a lot done, and a lot of money earned from my job! For instance, today I worked 3.5 hours and I got my minor added!

!!

TESOL is Teaching English to Students of Other Languages. I think it would be cool because then I could actually make my Spanish double major good for something, or more applicable/profitable.

And look what came in the mail!

lots of letters for Wednesday!
thank you thank you!

A bridal shower!

I should preface this post by noting that last night was very fun, it was kind of like a Riviera reunion and we made pies and played card games. I forgot to take pictures though, plus it was late at night, so no post last night. But I did take lots of pictures today, so here we go!

Lana did an awesome job on Katelyn's bridal shower today. We played a couple of icebreaker games, ate some healthy and unhealthy snacks, heard all about the proposal story, and made a wedding gown out of toilet paper.

my gift! thank you target for cute gift wrapping supplies.

CHECK OUT that cupcake ferris wheel.

complete with veil.
Then we went to Danielle's house for her sister's birthday party, and then to the dollar theater for The Fault in Our Stars which was exactly the beautiful cryfest that we thought it would be. IT'S GOOD. GO SEE IT. Tomorrow is regional conference, so it's off to the Marriott Center for church!

Shouldn't it be a Friday?

Today was the first home football game, which WE WON (of course!). Unfortunately, this meant that it felt like a Friday when I still have work and classes tomorrow. Here's what some of today held:

club day! proudly manning the Amateur Radio club booth.

the game (I didn't end up wearing the hat, don't worry)

that turned into this!

beat university of houston!
Work today went well, a lot of adding jobs to the jobs board and emailing prospective employers/internship providers. If you want to see what I do, check out https://cfac.byu.edu/comms/jobs/ -the postings are just some of the things that I do! People email us and then I take that information and put it into a job post and/or in the weekly newsletter.

First Day of Work: check!

I had my first day of work and it went well! I'm really excited to learn more and help out. This week should be mostly training. For instance, today I took a building tour, practiced sending emails (with my own office personalized signature!), and studied and was quizzed on some of the requirements for the internship program.

delicious and healthy dinner!!! naan, chicken salad, THE BEST butternut squash
bisque from costco. yummy.
Tomorrow is BYU's first home football game. Go cougars!

Rainy Inauguration Day

Today was President Worthen's inauguration as the 13th President of BYU, and it was amazing because THE PROPHET presided, the entire First Presidency was there, and Elder Oaks, Nelson, and Holland were as well! It was so amazing to feel the Spirit that was there when the prophet walked in (I've never been in the same room as him! And honestly I probably had a better seat today than I will at General Conference next month!). So neat!

What wasn't so neat was the crazy thunderstorm we had all day today. I captured a really neat picture showing how rainy it was here in Provo but how other parts of the valley were untouched. Crazy!

At the inauguration

We also had our first BYUARC meeting of the school year, where we planned what we're doing for BYU's Involvapalooza (Club Day). The plan is to bring candy, put together a slideshow of our activities, and maybe even pull out some HT's.

caught the Y on the way back from the club meeting
And look what surprise I had waiting for me at the end of a very, very long day!

Tomorrow's the first day of work! Wish me luck!
