Heidi's 50th Birthday Getaway

Mom had an amazing birthday getaway this weekend in Newport Beach! I was only able to stay from Friday-Sunday (no Disneyland for me, sadly, as I have a big OChem test this week), but I was able to relax, get some sun, and have a wonderful time with family (who are also great friends!).

first stop after arriving-lunch with a view!

Is it Friday yet?

I'm so ready to head out to Newport! But first, I have to get through tomorrow. I'm hosting dinner group so that should be fun though. There's some homework I want to catch up on as well, but it won't be nearly as exciting...

Fun Fact of the Day

Did you know that your gallbladder can turn your intestines green? Or that it's tricky to try and de-fat the heart to exposure vasculature? I DO thanks to dissection today haha. My project is to de-fat/exposure arteries of the heart and then cut a window into it to see all the chambers!! I think it's exciting, I wanted to do something with the brain but there weren't any real options since only the instructor and our professor are allowed to do anything dissection-wise with them.

Got some good work done today! And a good workout as well. Check out the cool car I saw on the way to Zumba below!

More like a Birth-weekend!

My birthday was on Thursday this year, which is kind of a bummer-you want to be able to stay up late and fully enjoy that cake and ice cream, instead of having to call it a night at 10 o'clock because you have quizzes the next day. Luckily, my wonderful friends and sister planned a couple events across the entire weekend! So that made up for a Thursday birthday :)

Thursday- my birthday day! There aren't any BYU Aerobics classes, so I went for a walk around the track with Onnie and Ali. Came home, and Danielle made some waffles, eggs, and turkey bacon for breakfast. Then it was classes and work, dinner at P.F. Chang's (thanks Claire!), Institute, and some surprise cake with friends.

a birthday breakfast!

some fancy "alcohol" from Ali!

ginger beer! haha as close to actual beer as I'll ever get ;)

Friday- Class, work, dinner with the FOL Ops team to review how everything went, then another surprise party! It was great. Costco food and in a giant basement complete with the Wii, ping pong and pool. What more could you ask for?

Saturday- Morning workout, nails done (thanks Danielle!), errands, and then off to Katie J's for a barbecue, with a quick stop at IKEA first! My living room is officially decorated all the way-I'll take a picture and post later.

Sunday- Slept in, church, dinner and a walk at the Werners, and ward prayer. Here's to another week!

Workout wonders!

We have quite the little workout group going at BYU and it's so fun! As  you guys have probably noticed, going to the gym/doing exercise classes are how I destress. It's been a lot of fun to have my friends (and sister!) start coming too.

I'm pretty tired, so I think I'm going to do some reading for O-chem and then shower, stretch a little more and go to bed!

Isn't it Friday yet?

I know, we had a short week this week, but it feels like it should be the weekend already! Today I hosted dinner group, saw some of Andrew's football game, and went to Institute. Oh, and trying to prep for an organic chemistry quiz tomorrow. Ah!

Happy Labor Day!

Today was good. Nothing too crazy, but work got done and some fun was had! Errands, studying, lunch with Onnie, a visit to the mall (I couldn't find anything worth buying though), more errands, and then a ward BBQ/swim!

Tomorrow's the big day-wish me luck on Dissection! Hopefully it will be all good news.

Weekend Update

Thursday- School, work, Sigma Delta Pi meeting (Spanish Honor Society), studying, Nacho Libre. Good times all around.

Friday- Rooftop concert (I'll admit I only went to get a free t-shirt), birthday waffles for Catherine's 25th, found some Whovians (Karenna this is why BYU is calling your name ;)).

Saturday- Studying all day! Ran some errands, and then another birthday bash/bonfire. I just need to make it through Tuesday! Then life can get into a normal routine.
