a good sunday

Today was actually pretty good, in the end (at least until right now!). I played the piano in church, listened to some great lessons, took a lovely drive up the canyon, dinner and a light dessert at the Werners, now in 15 minutes it'll be time for ward prayer and then an early bedtime so I can get back into a good schedule for week 2 of summer term! And there's a four day weekend ahead with my family :) Yay for Independence Day!

Friday/Saturday

Lots of piano practicing, organizing, and movie watching this weekend! A good break for sure. And this week is a 4 day weekend for me since I'm heading to Washington for the Fourth of July!!! Some snapshots from today and yesterday:

And today I put my new Provo Recreation Center Pass (!) to good use by taking a barre class and hitting the pool to try and tan! Mom don't worry I was super careful about my face :) think sunscreen, hat, sunglasses....the works.

First Lab!

It was my first Chemistry lab today, and it went quite well! I totally forgot to take a photo all dressed up in my very own lab coat and goggles (I'm a true science nerd now), I'll have to get one on Tuesday!

In other news, I had work, piano practice, Institute, and I got my pass to the Provo Recreation Center! Plus-I went for a much needed grocery shopping trip, which paid off tonight with my tilapia in pesto sauce and zucchini dinner. Yum.

Looking forward to the weekend! I just have to make it through 7 hours of work tomorrow. Yay for earning money!

I WON

Do you remember the game website I played on freshman year? Okay, it wasn't really a game site-you just sat there and clicked a button and tried to match up your number with the number displayed. I ended up winning a couple gift cards, free songs on iTunes, etc. WELL. I played in a contest of theirs today...and won big time! $100 to Southwest! So like half a plane ticket, haha. But still!

I won!

See the faint caption above my unmatched numbers later...
"Kjerstie won the last prize!"
Not a bad way to end hump day! And I even made it to the temple and finished homework too. Not bad at all.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

***I was supposed to post this last night but ended up watching The Bachelorette after FHE instead. That's real life for you...

Saturday meant a trip to the Boise Farmers' Market, fixing Grandma's wifi and phone (take that, Dad!), a drive to Idaho City (famous for gold and constantly burning down), a great nap (I guess Grandma and I wore each other out! Maybe even me more than her! Not that I'd ever admit it ;), Newsies, and off to bed.
(No pictures because I was not impressed with Idaho City and we didn't buy anything at the market. Sorry.)

Sunday was church (well, Sacrament meeting), the drive home, dinner with the Werners, and a lovely Sunday walk. With lots of wildlife to be found!!

even the highway patrol was celebrating Father's Day!

in a very highway patrol style, of course!

it was a summer night reminiscent of spain!

can you spot a baby deer in here?

or a marmot?
Monday was busy busy busy! Ali and I did Insanity in the morning, I had a doctor's appointment, and then it was off to work for a full day. Then a stroll on the elliptical, FHE (a giant water balloon fight!), and The Bachelorette. Now it's bedtime because I'm going to try to go to the Rec center tomorrow for a workout!

A getaway!

Finals are over! I drove up to Boise last night and am having quite the adventure.

This morning Grandma Ann and I went for a walk, visited Papa O., and then visited Chris' restaurant for lunch!

Note that I'm writing from my phone because for some reason I can't connect to the wifi! So captions are out of whack!

Then we came back, I read for a bit, Grandma took a nap, and we went to Deli Days! We took a synagogue tour, ate some cheesecake, and matzoh roca! (Almond roca made with matzoh bread)

Then we watched the Meridian Dairy Days Parade on TV! Now we're watching The Merry Widow (an operetta). It's a good one! And a nice end to a very fun day.

Birthday Weekend Shenanigans!

Happy happy birthday to Claire and Trish! Friday was uneventful, I ended up with a 98 on my grammar paper, so that was great news! The party really started on Saturday...

Saturday was Trish's birthday! It started with my last BYU Aerobics class (wah wah wah....we'll see what I end up doing this summer to keep up my level of fitness!), and then it was time for lunch at La Jolla Groves! It was Trish, Claire, Sarah, and C&S's other roommate Megan. Delish!

Then Trish and I went grocery shopping for Sunday dinner for Claire's birthday! Costco was good to us. That night we all went to Trish and Jeff's for cake, ice cream, and games.

jeff made it himself! Funfetti and cream cheese frosting.

Sunday-now it's Claire's turn for a birthday! I had a great day at church, got some laundry done, and then at 4 we (Claire and Sarah and I) headed up to Highland for a delicious dinner of a yummy green salad by moi (strawberries, almonds, feta, and a nice vinaigrette), ribs (Curly's from Costco!), and garlic mashed potatoes. Then it was cake and ice cream time for Claire! One death by chocolate cake coming up!

I got them both Martinelli's and their favorite candy!

make a wish!
Now I'm off to bed to get ready for the last week of school....finals here I come! I'm ready to pound them out and move on to summer term, where I'll be taking a Chem lab and my final Spanish course. Here we go!

The Final Countdown

We're getting down to the wire, folks! Finals are next Wednesday and Thursday, and I turned in my final paper today! Now it's just studying. Tomorrow I'm working all day, and then it's a birthday celebration weekend for Trish and Claire. Yay! Expect lots of fun updates :)

Midweek Update and some GRADUATIONS

That's right-graduations, PLURAL. Renny is now a HIGH SCHOOLER and Onnie is off to join me at COLLEGE! What?!?! Time flies!

the graduates! and lolo!!

this babe even gave a speech!!
While I wasn't there in person, I was in spirit!! This week has been crunch time-homework, papers, work, and the last week of aerobics (I'm crying. Really. I'm convinced it's the best workout deal in the world! What will I do without it this summer?! Ali and I have created our own version, let's hope it works just as well!). Next Wednesday and Thursday are FINALS! And then it's summer classes and work. What an adult life, huh? No big break!

I'm looking forward to the weekend to try and relax before all that gets started though, especially because it's a BIRTHDAY weekend for not one but TWO friends! Woo!

Weekend Update

Friday- National Doughnut Day equals free doughnuts at Krispy Kreme! It was just us and half the world trying to get some...

donut you want to date us?
Onnie GRADUATED! I was there in spirit, unfortunately, not physically.

Group date of dutch oven cooking was way fun! Walking around Provo Canyon, a campfire, yummy food, and roasted marshmallows.

Saturday-aerobics, homework, and off to Salt Lake for a little shopping. I got a very neat summer shirt-it has a watermelon print! Also got this great view:

Pho for dinner, caught up with Lana, and then off to bed.

Sunday- I played the piano in Sacrament meeting, socialized at Break-the-Fast, and then made it up to Holladay to go to the Jepsen's barbecue. So good to see old friends from back home! Now I'm winding down because I have the last week of aerobics starting tomorrow.

The Great Bake-Off and an Upcoming Test

Wednesday (yesterday) was our ward bake-off! The original announcement was a bit sexist (Women make womanly desserts! Men make manly desserts!), so as a joke I made a Barbie cake and then a trifle as an actual dessert. But the cake wasn't too bad if I do say so myself!

barbie in all her glory

chocolate carmel trifle

also known as death by chocolate

the lot! well, all the girls' desserts
Today (Thursday) was class, work, study time, food truck roundup before Institute, Institute, Zumba, and now some unwinding and a little more studying. I'm hoping to take the physics test tomorrow at 10:30.

yum.
Wish me luck! I hope it goes 3/4 as well as Grammar did......because I got a PERFECT SCORE! Woohoo!

One down, one to go!

Grammar is done! And I think it went really well! I actually saw a score up online just tonight but my professor emailed us and said that due to some bugs it may or may not be accurate. So we'll have to see!

Today I went to the temple, along with all of Provo High School apparently. And a girl's camp group! I kid you not-they were going to the temple as the first stop. Crazy!

Tonight I'm just getting started on some baking for the ward dessert competition tomorrow...and reviewing physics. Boo. I can get through it!

a beautiful spring day!

I love to see the temple!

Twice the trouble

I have not one, but TWO tests this week. Grammar is tomorrow (I may or may not be taking a break/procrastinating my study to post this....) and then physics is from Friday-Saturday.

Tonight was FHE, and we were assigned to our smaller groups/families. I'm excited! I really want to keep up all my social ward activities even though I totally ran into FHE sweaty from Zumba. Hey, I'm trying to do what I can! Which sometimes thinks like everything haha.
