Field Hockey/Karenna Update!

This back-from-the-blogging-dead post is all about field hockey today-because Renny is at the Futures National tournament this week! I'm so proud to see that she has taken field hockey further than I ever could! This recap is about her/mom/dad arriving in Pennsylvania for the tourney and their first game today. They'll have another one this afternoon and then see what happens.

Another week down!

Last week and this week were, surprise surprise, crazy! But very productive. I got all of my internship applications turned in, most scholarships done, and continue to go go go. We had our big activity, a cook off, for Sigma Delta Pi and we even got an article about it with the College of Humanities! Check out my pics below and the article here.

I made arroz con leche (rice pudding)

We had probably 100 people! Awesome!

The wildest weekend in a long time

What a weekend! Friday was full of research, a game night, and then off to bed because of my 5K on Saturday! I also went to lunch with some friends from FOL for pho on Saturday and then went to the Utah Symphony/MOTAB Mahler concert.

I MADE IT! 28 minutes, 5 seconds, 12th place overall, 2nd in my division!
but most importantly, I didn't walk at all!

Soldier Hollow and work work work

Last night was our ward activity at Soldier Hollow, a tubing run! It was a lot of fun, now I'm just catching up on never ending internship applications! Okay, so there's only a couple left, but it's not as easy as I thought it would be. The deadline for both is March 1st, so my goal is to get them in next week!

Valentine's and President's Day

Valentine's Day was on a Sunday, but we could still spread the love! Onnie and I went to the Werners and enjoyed make-your-own pizza night. Mine was in the spirit of the season (day). They were delicious!

Monday was President's Day, so there was no school! I wanted to do something outside of my house/Provo, so at the last minute Sarah, Onnie, her friend Jacob, Danielle and I went to check out Gilgal Gardens in Salt Lake. It's a bunch of sculptures/engraved stone poems this rich eccentric Mormon guy had made. Pretty wild!

Galentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Today's post is about Galentine's Day, though. Galentine's Day comes from the tv show Parks and Rec. Here's what the main character has to say about it:

"Oh it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas."

So I got my ladies together and we had a rockin' breakfast celebrating each other! This character from the tv show also has the crazy compliments, so Ali printed them off and gave one to everybody. So fun!

Other weekly happenings included Annaka learning that onions really do make you cry, I won the hitlist again, and mom and the dogs got the Valentines card I sent them in the mail.

tears.

woohoo!!!

And that's the latest update! Love you all, no matter what day of the year.

Over the weekend

Friday: Men's Volleyball, Caitlyn's intramural basketball game (which the other team forfeited, so we shot some hoops ourselves!), and a dance party at Claire's.

Saturday: RIP, relaxing, more MVB, and babysitting.

Sunday: Church, break-the-fast, hanging out with Onnie.

what a workweek hustle!!! I won the family challenge
but lost the office one. by a lot!

This week brings a couple of midterms, my first 5k on Saturday, and more internship applications.

What a day!

Woke up early, went to the gym. Came home, ate breakfast, read a bit and then picked up Onnie to go to the City Center open house. Went to work, worked for five hours. After work it was straight to class until 6:15, dinner group at 6:30, baked some muffins since my bananas were getting a little ripe, then walked over to yoga at 8:10. Got home from yoga at 9:50, called home, am writing in my blog, then will go shower and go to bed!!

2/2 on a 2sday

Another day, another dollar! Today was the usual school/work/home, but with the added excitement that I cooked for dinner group tonight (and totally forgot to take a picture. whoops). Then I went for a walk, finished some homework and laundry, and now need to shower so I can be in bed before 10:30, hopefully!

It has still been pretty cold with some flurries, not as much snow as yesterday/the weekend, just enough to freeze everything over and make people miserable. I did find a fun snow sculpture, though! Check it out below.

rawr!

healthy and delicious.

New Week

It's another week off to another busy start! Although today brought lots of snow and a cancelled class, so that was exciting! Then it was time for work after school was done and then back home for dinner group. I'm cooking tomorrow!

off to the gym at 6, and it's just me!

snow day! kind of.

Saturday shenanigans

On Saturday, I got up early and went to the gym, had brunch with Onnie, and then went grocery shopping. That afternoon, we were spontaneous and went sledding with Claire and Caitlin!! In true college kid fashion, we went without traditional sleds and slid down on cookie sheets instead. I'll admit, I thought it was going to be a big fail, but they work remarkably well! Just in case you find yourself wanting to sled but with no actual sled.

It was a pretty big snowstorm yesterday, and it looks beautiful. I like either a lot of snow or none at all (no gross gray slush/frozen dirty snow, please).

Recap: Christmas and a Concussion

Before I get going with life right now, I thought I'd do one last recap of Christmas break because it was quite adventurous-from the title, yes, someone even got a concussion!

For Christmas, we headed out to Idaho to spend some time in Boise and then head up to McCall. Little did we know that a major power outage meant that we'd spend more time in Boise than expected! But we finally made it and had an amazing time.

our make-do Christmas tree!

lots of rest and relaxation

emphasis on the rest

raclette!

trying to drive down back to boise...a downed tree in our way!
it was quite the experience to help clear it...good thing so many idahoans
just happen to carry gas powered chainsaws with them in their cars!

as a family, we were trying to memorize this scripture all week.
a lovely surprise to see it featured on social media!

After Idaho, we headed back to California for a couple of days (over New Years/New Years Eve) and then the real adventures began...

friends and fam!

On New Years Day, as a family, we had some fun go karting at the church until....onnie crashed! And whacked her head. So off to the hospital she went.

Anders lost a tooth while onnie was in the hospital

We flew back to Utah the next day, so that was exciting, but to have a concussed sibling on top of that made for some real entertainment! Luckily there was no brain bleeding, and she basically slept the whole time.

before we even took off
Onnie stayed with me that night, and then it was back to normal (aka another semester!). And that's that!
