Sunday update.

So happy that today was so great! My lesson went okay with some treats to bribe my class, and then I was able to go see the D's, W's, and even the grandparents! Dinner was delicious and we even gambled (wait what?!) for game night. Can't wait to give M. a mini tour of BYU tomorrow!

treats are going fast!
We stopped to look at the new Provo City Center Temple on the way out to Spanish Fork. So cool!

This week brings a Spanish and Chem test, the last week of aerobics classes (sad face x1000000000000000),and the start of studying for finals! Scary!

Happy Easter!

I can write that because it is just a little past midnight, and officially Easter! Don't worry, my church starts at noon so I can get plenty of rest :) Today's recap: another awesome day! I wanted to wake up early to exercise before heading to my chem review, but let's be honest-it didn't happen. So I hit my chem review, then took my calc test (I only missed two on multiple choice, so an 80, which is about what I expected. Not too horrible!), went to the gym, and got ready for dinner and the last home volleyball game with C and M, who is visiting from BYU-I. Highlight of the day-making it on to BYU-tv!! A friend from home texted us and said that he saw us at the game! Too exciting. We're basically 3-second celebrities!!!

M, C, and me!

worried looks explanation-it was the middle of the third set, which was close.
we ended up winning 26-24, but it was scary for a little bit!
ps I have no idea why I'm smirking...

look at that pre-mission glow on C! oh no-
wait-she's going to burn in
Brazil!!
Tomorrow (or I guess later today!) I'm teaching Sunday School and am heading over to the W's to see the D's for Easter!! Can't wait!

funday friday!

Today was awesome. I didn't feel totally ready for Calc, so I'm taking it tomorrow and it took a huge load off today! Without further ado, a nice photo montage:

Trying to register for classes at 12 am was not very fun; the server was super slow! So I thought I'd play some Hitlist...luckily for me, they look out for us college kids!

ok hitlist.
Found at BYU: A giant cardboard castle in honor of recycling awareness. That you can paint. Not too bad!

We also got a workout in, and went to see the Host!!! I actually LOVED this movie. Great action/romance (but a lot of hot makeouts, which is not exactly what single ladies want to see!), and I thought it followed the book really well. I would definitely recommend it.

Tomorrow-calc (I promise), another chem review, and SENIOR NIGHT for BYU men's volleyball. It should be another great weekend!

And on a spiritual note- hope your Good Friday was good! Don't forget-Christmas is the season, Easter is the reason :)

good to be back.

BYU men's volleyball was finally back at home tonight! We beat Pepperdine 3-1. I just love this sport! It doesn't hurt that the team that I cheer for is #1 in the nation right now either... :) Today was busy busy busy, with lots of reviews and homework. I have to register for my Fall 2013 classes at midnight tonight, so there's plenty of time to keep studying and working!

Tomorrow brings another chem review, hopefully the calc test because I really don't want to take it on Saturday, and the usual shenanigans. This week has flown by!

good to be back home!

CALLED TO SERVE.

C. got her mission call today! She's headed to the Fortaleza East mission in BRAZIL! So so happy and excited for this girl! Now we're just waiting on T's call, which should hopefully come next week!

Getting everything set up was a little crazy, but we got everyone on Google+ from Idaho to California!

it's tuesday. again.

Well, I had no idea how to title tonight's post, so "it's tuesday. again." is as creative as I'm going to get. I need to finish my math homework but don't really want to, so I'm taking a break and blogging instead! On to the daily update. I was able to take both my New Testament and Book of Mormon tests today-hooray for getting back on schedule! NT was great, with a 97, and BoM was ehh with an 86. I just thought I did better, so it was a little disappointing!

I also won another gift card to SubZero courtesy of BYU Hitlist! Too bad that I'm trying to eat healthy for the next couple of weeks. Oh well!

Awesome!

more free stuff!
Tonight I made it to the gym and the first of two calc reviews. Tomorrow brings class, Pilates, the final math review, and all the usual excitement!

Oh! and P.S.-if you can, try watching the devotional online that was at BYU today. It was about developing a lifelong love of learning and education, and the speaker was super funny! I would definitely recommend it.

Farewell, California...Hello again, Utah.

I got in pretty late last night, so here's the update for Sunday and today!

Sunday-After church and a lunch/dinner, it was time to say goodbye :( I wasn't looking forward to leaving this and my wonderful family for brown and white Utah, but it had to be done.

sun! happiness!
My flight was fine; I was actually able to get my homework done so it worked out perfectly! It turned out that C was on the same flight as me because he came home to go through the temple. My friends are growing up so fast!

These next few pictures show the shuttle pick up area that's in the baggage claim of Salt Lake, and are more for A's benefit when she comes here in the summer for her music camp. For the rest, enjoy a lovely slideshow...

baggage claim is just off to the right.

check in here!
I was able to head back to J&J's to say a quick hello to Amma, Grandpa, and A-the Eagle Scout! Way to go! They brought back this adorable treat that a friend had made for the ceremony/celebration-I thought it was so cute!

And since BYU beat Grandpa's team, the Washington Huskies, in the NIT, he paid up to our friendly bet with some delicious root beer :)

a little sacrilegious? maybe. I thought it was great.

And as for today-it's just been busy busy busy and will continue to be that way for the rest of the week! I was supposed to take my New Testament test today because I wouldn't have to double up on any tests, but my teacher forgot to open it! So I'll have to take Book of Mormon and New Testament tomorrow. Sigh. At least with that free time I got a lot of homework done and make it to Pilates and the gym! Tomorrow's lineup includes a calc review for our test later this week, my two tests, and hopefully a moment to breathe. My reward for making it through will be Easter weekend with J&J and the D's, who are coming in from Washington!

home sweet HOME!

I made it back to California for the weekend! Even though it was just a short trip, and I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon, it was a great three-day weekend break. Without further ado, the documentation:

Friday- The best part was leaving all the SNOW for the SUN! We watched A perform at Red Rock, where she was an opener! Very cool. And not all the acts were that bad!

goodbye salt lake!

what I was missing out on...

hello oakland!

soaking in the sun.
she's the opener!

that's my sister!
Saturday-Woke up early to head to my favorite exercise class in downtown Los Altos, so it was a busy day even on my day off! First, I finished up some Q-cards from my Amateur Radio trip that had arrived in my absence, then we went to Costco to get me a Costco card! I feel like such an adult now...

badge of adulthood.
Then we went to Anders' baseball game, I got a haircut, and A and K went with me to try some macarons from a shop in Palo Alto that I had been eying for a while.

and they won, too!

silly kid.

yummmmm.

pistachio, salted carmel, vanilla, and red velvet.
And this last picture is a friendly reminder to be careful if you play with my phone :) You never know, you could get featured on my blog! Haha love you K!

made it to mid-week!

Another busy day here at BYU. Today wasn't super exciting, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred  so here's a snapshot of a typical day in the life!

Woke up at 6:45, did the usual morning routine, made it to Chem at 7:55. After Chem, it's off to Calc, and then on to Spanish. Spanish was fun today, probably because we worked in our groups and I love the guys in my group! They're finally not afraid to talk to me, so we actually get our work done as a group and can charlar (chat) too. Then I have a lunch break, and truthfully, almost every day, it's at the Museum of Art Café because it's healthy and delicious! I had a salad and a panini. Then I hit the library to get some homework done before New Testament at 1, and after that, it's just more homework until dinnertime, and after dinner it's Pilates and the gym!

Tomorrow is Sweet Hour of Service, where we'll be doing an Easter-themed activity. I also have a laundry list of things to be done (including laundry!) before I head home on Friday. Woohoo for my own Spring Break! (Since BYU doesn't have one...)

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Oops!

Whoops. I forgot to post anything yesterday! So I tried to take a lot of pictures to make today's post interesting. Yesterday was just the usual classes/homework/workout, so nothing exciting to report. On to today's recap!

I started the day off right by winning $10 to SubZero, an ice cream shop in Provo where they make your order in front of you using liquid nitrogen. Pretty cool! I'll be excited to try it out.

winnah winnah!
I also got my academic scholarship renewed for spring and summer! So grateful. It's a relief!

:)
There was also some rivalry tonight between the grandparents and I...our teams facing off in the NIT! And we won! 90-79. Good effort Huskies.

We also attended a forum today-where it was the Pulitzer prize-winning author Ron Chernow speaking about George Washington. We had to attend because C. is a big fan of George...

presidential spirit!
After classes, we went to a "Women in Business" presentation and scored some free swag. Awesome. Plus it was interesting to learn about some of the degrees that the business school offers besides MBA, CPA, etc. I personally thought a BS in Management with a Strategy emphasis sounded really cool-probably because it's all about how to win (in the business sense). I could live with that...

listening to different presenters.
Then it was off to the BYU ARC-and now, introducing the new Vice President for 2013! We currently just have a President and a Vice President, but hopefully we can recruit some more interested people. Inhabitants of the Clyde Building, I'm looking at you.

And now it's off to bed to get ready for another busy day tomorrow! I can't believe I'll be coming home for a quick break in just three short days...

Happy half-birthday to me!

And I guess a Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all of you as well! But yes, my half birthday is on March 17th, so I'm officially 18.5 years young! Because as old and adult as I try to be, some days I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing at college :)

Today was great-starting with this awesome text, it just got better and better!

:) the best aunt and uncle ever.
Church today was wonderful, and I thought I'd share one of the Mormon Messages we watched today. It's a tearjerker (our entire Relief Society was bawling), so grab a hanky and enjoy some Sunday inspiration!

Mountains to Climb

After church it was off to the W's for a delicious Irish meal of corned beef, cabbage, and carrots, plus green jello and pound cake! Then I tagged along with them to a youth fireside-where I felt quite old! Though truthfully, if there had been any Laurels or Priests there they probably could have been the same age as me since I'm young for my grade...

Tomorrow/this week is pretty quiet, which is the calm before the storm that is next week! All of my classes have tests, which will not be pretty. At least this week is nice, plus as an added bonus, I get to take a special trip this weekend. You'll have to keep reading to find out about it!

F/S recap.

Not a bad weekend at all! Without further ado, the recap for Friday and Saturday:

Friday: M got her call to Recife, Brazil! And S came into town from BYU-I for some weekend adventures! We tried to hike the Y, but no one could give us a ride to the trailhead! Oh well. So we had some cupcakes, went to an open mic night to watch C and his friend B cover some Jack Johnson, and then watched The Sum of All Fears with a baby Ben Affleck.

Brasil is so lucky to have her!

yummy cupcakes from the cocoa bean!

"banana pancakes" cover.
awesome.
the devoted fans.
Saturday: We took the train up to Salt Lake City to do some shopping, or rather, for C to spend her $200 gift card that she won! Little did we realize the adventures we would have...

crashing a st. patrick's day parade. oh yeah,
because it's tomorrow.

delicious lunch.

quick stop at temple square.

and dessert courtesy of c's parents-as long as we ate something green for
st. patrick's day tomorrow!
Sunday brings the usual church/dinner at J&J's, but also-C and T should be able to submit their mission papers tomorrow since they have their meeting with the stake president! Yes!
