fine friday night

today was the usual friday schedule. at PYM we watched Living Legends perform and it was pretty cool. then I turned in my MLS app (woohoo!) and after all my classes I was able to finally start Season 4 of Downton Abbey!! I. Love. That. Show. And this season is very good and very intense, I must say. Tonight we also had a little bi-ward dinner/dance that was delicious. Then I hit up the gym and now I'm off to bed early! Good night!

indexing goal complete!

I can't remember if I have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again! My ward is having an indexing competition for the month of February, and if your FHE group gets the most names indexed, the bishopric will take you all out to dinner at a restaurant! When I heard that I made it my goal to index 1000 names in hopes of winning. And today I made it!

That's my big accomplishment. I forgot I had to attach a recent picture to my MLS application, so it's headed in tomorrow, not today. I'm excited for some fun activities my ward has planned this weekend! I'll keep you all updated :)

late wednesday update

Whoops! C and I watched a little bit more of our Korean drama last night and I went to bed with a horrible headache, so I unfortunately am not getting this out on time! But late is better than never, right?
Today was another warm spring day (It's currently wet, rainy, and windy right now, but that's Utah weather for you!). I was able to get my last letter of rec for my MLS application, so let's hope that I can turn it in tomorrow (today) and all will be well!

not-too-bad tuesday

Today I woke up early enough to get to BYU's forum this morning! I got extra credit from my Living Prophets class for going and writing a little paragraph because it was some important evangelical leader who came and gave quite the rousing speech. Then it was back home for lunch and off to my MMBio lab, where we got our tests back and I got a 99!!! Woohoo!! Plus I always have a great time with my lab group. Then I made dinner-Barefoot Contessa's shrimp and orzo salad because it's been so warm it's like spring and I was craving something summery. Yum.

Next stop was BYU ARC, where we planned our activities for the rest of the semester, and it's looking good! Then I (barely) made it to yoga on time, and it was a good burn as usual. Now I'm reviewing for my MMBio quiz tomorrow and blogging and going to go to bed!

not much this monday

This week will probably be pretty boring, just FYI. Nothing too exciting! Today the only remarkable thing was waking up late and going grocery shopping this afternoon. We had a fun FHE of indexing and then brownies and ice cream with the rest of the ward, though! Tomorrow expect some yoga and ARC recaps. Goodnight!

saturday/sunday catchup

Saturday: stayed up too late, slept in super late Saturday. Got some free Coldstone with C's giftcard, watched some hobbit goodness, prepared my Sunday School lesson, baked some treats for my class as a bribe.

Sunday: gave said Sunday School lesson, class ate treats, success. R&R at the W's (thank you x10000000000000), where I had a yummy dinner AND read not one but TWO books. It's the little things. Then back home for The Walking Dead and folding clothes, then FaceTime and off to bed!

Tomorrow brings another week that won't be filled with midterms! Just two quizzes. But in about two weeks the cycle starts up again....

two fin's!

Two fin's because a) el fin (the end) of my spanish test which I thought went well! and b) es el fin de la semana (it's the weekend!). Tonight was pretty quiet which was actually very relaxing. Today was busy but I did have some fun at PYM, where we had the Army and Air Force ROTC come out and show us their football game cannon (named George Q... get it?!) and the Air Force rifle drill team. Very cool!

no class today!

No lab today! So I got to finish my molecular bio homework, do Spanish and Living Prophets homework, work on my MLS application, and study for my Spanish midterm tomorrow. Very exciting. I also ran BYU's amateur radio net!

Whew. It's been a crazy busy day! But I have also gotten a lot done, which is awesome. Tomorrow I don't have any classes because my lab was cancelled, but I have my Spanish midterm to study for and I'm even supposed to try and run the ARC's weekly ham radio net! We'll see how it goes. Wish me luck in my endeavors!

back to byu

So I made it back to Utah today. I am not very excited to get back into classes and my last midterm, but it was fun to come back with my Dad! I haven't had a travel buddy in a long time.
We managed to even grab some lunch together before he had to head to work and I made it back for my Spanish class. I'm proud to say that I was able to drive him around in the jetta and show how much better I am than last summer in the church parking lot!

Today Mom and A and I drove up to finally check out the Kate Spade Outlet in Livermoore. Sadly, we were all pretty disappointed. Their prices were pretty good, but there was nothing that jumped out at me. After that, we took Pa to the Apple Store to get some issue with his phone resolved and walked around Stanford. I finally got to try some juice from the Pressed Juicery, which was delicious and, as weird as it sounds, very healthy-tasting and fresh.

And sadly, that's all of California that I'll be seeing for 2 more months! And then I'll only be home a few days before it's spring semester and I'm off to Spain :) So to all you Californians, soak it up! You wouldn't believe the difference that some green trees and listening to birds chirp has made...

I am having way too much fun watching my two crazy dogs together. Seriously. Lola is the best thing to happen to Lilly since bones. The way they just play together ALL DAY is so cute.

Today was a great day at church and a fun dinner with the missionaries tonight. We're planning on having a fun day around town and even checking out the outlets tomorrow-hopefully it won't be like my last day on my Christmas visit where I came down with a stomach virus! Fun times.

Well. My Infection and Immunity midterm was insane. But it's done! And I'm heading home tomorrow. Happy Galentine's Day today and a happy Valentine's tomorrow :)

88 and feeling great!

Three midterms down, and only one to go! I got an 88 tonight on my molecular bio midterm, and while I think I could've gotten a 90, I will cut myself a little slack because of my two midterms yesterday and one that I still have to take tomorrow.

Other than that there's not much to report. Just lots and lots of studying! To say that I am looking forward to this long weekend would be a huge understatement....

The title is the sound of my brain! Another busy busy day today. Although I knocked out two midterms- my lab practical and the written lab portion! I've never taken a free response test in the testing center before-they've always had some kind of multiple choice with it so this was definitely different. I also made it to my Immunology review and our little ARC fox hunt (which my team won!).

I plan on taking my molecular bio exam tomorrow and then immunology on Thursday (it's the one I'm most worried about). And even with all this going on I still made it to yoga! Gotta keep sane somehow...guess my way is through lots of vinyasas (LOTS today let me tell you).

This week is going to be a crazy one! I was up early and have seriously been going all. day. Like right up until 11:30 at night because one of my TA's decided to schedule a review at 10 pm....sigh. Such is the life of a student during midterms! I need to get to bed so I can take my lab practical (and hopefully written) done and out of the way. Wish me luck with the first of (technically four) this week!

Sunday funday

Well, it's off to the grindstone tomorrow! So I'll keep this short in order to get to bed.

Today included a lovely time at church, then a yummy dinner at the W's, and then a little Relief Society conference for our ward.

Then it was ward prayer and some roommate bonding with The Walking Dead. And now I'm folding some clothes and blogging! This week is going to be crazy; we'll have to see if I can make it through!

not very productive but that's okay

Today was a girl in our ward's baptism! I've gotten to know her quite well over the past couple of weeks just as a friend and now that I'm a ward missionary I got to help plan her program and such. It was so great! I even gave the closing prayer.

For my Spanish class I headed over to the International Cinema this afternoon and finally got to see Searching for Sugarman, which was pretty neat! It's about a folk singer from the 60's-70's who never made it big but became a symbol of the anti-establishment/anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. Definitely an interesting documentary.

And that was most of the day! We watched some more of the Olympics and Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. I honestly should have done more to study but it was sooo nice to have a relaxing weekend! And tomorrow should be a good day at church with a friend speaking in Sacrament meeting and then a little mini-conference at night. And then the midterms begin....

fun and fancy free

Today was the usual class/homework grind. Since it's Friday I had Provo Youth Mentoring, and today we toured the student athlete building!

Then tonight was a super fun night! We played Settlers of Catan with a bunch of friends while watching the Olympic opening ceremonies, and after that C and I (along with D and T) went skating at Classic Skate with a shake stop after. And after that (believe it or not) we played some Super Mario Smash Bros on D's Nintendo 64 (I had to have a quick crash course since I am NOT a video games person). Now it's time for bed and getting ready for a girl in our ward's baptism tomorrow! As a ward missionary (and friend) I'm saying the closing prayer so I should probably be there :) Here's to more fun this weekend but preparing for midterms too!

More snow today. It's no fun at all, especially because it's supposed to last all weekend....yuck. On a brighter note, look at these two cuties:

hump day

I'm excited that the weekend is drawing near, but not too much because that means all my midterms are coming up way too fast!

Woke up this morning to a chilly Provo.

But look at all that snow in the forecast! I don't know if I should be excited or tired of all this white fluffy stuff. Tomorrow (in addition to snow) brings another lab quiz and the start of reviews all weekend. Woohoo. Wish me luck!

yippee for yoga!

Today we didn't have a radio club meeting so I could make it to yoga with plenty of time to spare! I really like that BYU has an aerobics program. I've gotten pretty good at getting to the yoga classes; I would like to make it to the pilates ones as well but the timing is right before FHE so it can be a little awkward, especially with my Spanish class later in the day.

It snowed today! But it looks like it will just be cold until the weekend before any more snow comes down. Maybe some snowmen building Friday/Saturday?

Tomorrow I have a quiz in MMBio so I'm off to bed. Good night!

just another manic monday

Nothing new here- just the usual class/FHE/gym/homework grind. If I remember I'll try and take pictures of something so my posts can be kind of exciting! Otherwise it's off to bed so I can get up early and do more homework before my lab tomorrow.

Aside from a crazy Super Bowl, tonight at Ward Prayer I was spotlighted and my roommate C had the opportunity to share a talent. Naturally, she chose to lip sync in a music video and I went willingly along.

roomie date

I love Saturdays, especially ones that involve spontaneous adventures! Today after our Relief Society social (where I gave the spiritual thought and we all got free Cafe Rio!), C and I went to IKEA to try and find a trifle dish (no luck) and we also brainstormed some ideas for her talent showcase that's at ward prayer tomorrow night! It should be a success-I'll post it tomorrow :) After that, we hit up the Waffle Truck at the Riverwoods Fire and Ice festival where we witnessed this creature in its natural habitat:

And then it was Dollar Theater time for The Book Thief which of course we cried through and loved. Both the book and the movie adaptation are a must-read and see. Tomorrow I'm excited for Fast and Testimony meeting and then the Super Bowl!

Thursday: snow! and rain and sleet. Recitation for my infection/immunity class, then my lab, then yoga.

Friday: At Provo Youth Mentoring we went on a tour of some of BYU's Acoustics labs. Pretty cool. The pictures are of the anechoic chamber (without echo).
