It must be the last day of the month

Because I both did my visiting teaching, was visit taught, and was home taught tonight! Haha. Today was busy busy busy, as usual. I had Sweet Hour of Service from 11-12 today, which is one of the service organizations that I work with. I also took my Book of Mormon test (94) after studying/doing some homework, hit the gym, had dinner, went to a calc review, did my visiting teaching, and was home taught! Now I'm just finishing up my blog, will read my scriptures, and then it's time for bed! I think Fridays are my favorite day of the week, not because it's just almost the weekend, but because I only have three classes and then Provo Youth Mentoring, which is always fun.

And now for a picture recap!

I was practically sweating this evening.

loooooooooooong math review.
Here's for an awesome upcoming weekend! ...That truthfully won't be as awesome as I would like it to be because I need to study for Spanish, Calc, and Chem.....

More snow!

Today it honestly snowed the ENTIRE day. I felt as if I were trapped in a snowglobe or something! Classes were fine, but I was sleepy this afternoon! It must be the whole waking up early thing. I woke up to some crazy giant bruise on my neck-until I realized that no, I didn't Zumba that hard, it was just where my necklace had turned my skin green! I've never had that happen before, and it's not like it's a metal necklace, it's just some gray beads. Funky.

I took my first test of the second semester-New Testament-so all was well! Then it was Pilates and gym time with my exercise buds. We're getting so fit! Then it was back home for some frustrating chem homework. Whew. I'm glad that's over.

Tomorrow brings our first Sweet Hour of Service for the winter semester and the first of two math reviews. HOPEFULLY C. will get his mission call-it was supposed to come today but didn't! The stress! The agony of waiting! Hopefully it will all be revealed tomorrow...

Bruise?! nope. (chuck testa.)

woohoo for a 97%! let's keep it up!

2s-day.

Today was quite the productive day! I was able to hit up the math lab, head to devotional, grab some lunch with C., speak Spanish with T., study, and finish up some scholarships. Not too bad!
The only bummer was that I wore my new clothes...and wasn't able to "run into" anyone. Darn.
PS- the 2s-day is because we're learning about electron orbitals in chem. Very apt, no?

After school, it was time for dinner and Amateur Radio Club. We had three new interested hams come to help study for their Technician license-woohoo! They're all adults, but hey, it's a start! After I stayed to support our little club, it was time for Zumba. Today's class was all about hips. Who knew that your hips could get so sore from dancing...

new shirt! cool back.

perfect for v-day.

still lots of snow.

...the entire day.

one hundred.

Yes, believe it or not, this is my 100th blog post!!! I never imagined that this adventure. would turn into my online journal and that I would keep it up regularly (well, as regularly as I can :).
I have tried to keep everything clean and classy, hopefully it has been! If I was a fancy blogger, I would have some kind of giveaway or redesign my entire site-but I'm not, sorry-so you all get just another daily recap of the life of a freshman at BYU.

Woke up today to snow! It should continue throughout the week, according to Mr. Weatherman. Made it to all my classes, as usual, with a lunch break at the Tanner Building in-between. I even had time to hit up Campus Floral and get some new duds! Outfit pictures coming up, I promise :)
I decided to study in the library today so that I wouldn't feel so confined and anti-social in my jail cell of a room. And I found that there was a difference! Even if I didn't really talk to anyone, it was great to not be more distraction-prone when it was just me, all alone.

snowy snow snow.

Then I came back for some dinner, Pilates, and walking/weights at the gym! A nice workout. We found out that our usual Wednesday Pilates teacher is being replaced with the Monday teacher, which is both good and bad. The Wednesday teacher is much funnier and interactive, but we get a much better workout with the Monday teacher. So it looks like the future holds more work and less laughing during class!

After working out, I came back to do some much-needed laundry and was able to get caught up on my favorite tv show, Downton Abbey. And man, did I pick an episode to watch. The. Most. Dramatic. Ever. I was moved to tears in the middle of my dorm's basement, for crying out loud! I won't give away any spoilers, but there was a lot of emotion!!!! I can't wait to see what the next episodes will bring.

And now, one final parting thought:

why does my messy/slightly curly bun only appear
when there's no one to see it?!
Happy 100th.

Super-good Sunday.

Today was a pretty good Sunday. It's our Stake Conference next weekend, so this week was a fast Sunday and we had a great ward testimony meeting. I also got to have an awesome game night with the Werner's as well as some yummy stroganoff and homemade sun-dried tomato bread. Delicious.

Yesterday's recap: Saturday was pretty sweet too. It rained and rained, so most of the snow melted away, but a snowstorm is blowing through as I type this (thank heavens that J. drove me home-it was SCARY.), so the snow-less-ness didn't last for long. We went to a women's gymnastics meet against Boise State, which was actually pretty neat, and then drove around south campus to do a drive-by of possible housing for the upcoming semesters.

rain, rain, go away.

women's gymnastics.

The gang's all here!

And then...we had some trouble after heading home. We were watching Ocean's 11 when all of a sudden, there was a huge flash and kind of a clicking sound. M., C's roommate, had accidentally had her clothes hanger fall in between her phone charger and the outlet...and consequently, blew out the entire room's outlets. Whoops.

sad outlet.

The burn marks fit perfectly....
Can you believe that I took this picture only about two hours before the giant storm?

Sun at last, sun at last!

blokus.

sorry!

and settlers, of course.
A pretty solid weekend. This week brings two religion tests and A LOT of studying for the next week's midterms...yikes!

last friday night...

Was full of movie fun and some scary fog! After classes, it was the first session of PYM (Provo Youth Mentoring), which I loved getting back into! I think what made it really fun was that I was able to be in the same time slot, so I had the mentee that I had last semester, plus everyone except one guy in our group was able to do it again. It was like a little reunion!! After that, it was lunch time with C, T, and M. Luckily yesterday wasn't quite as frozen as it has been, so not too much slipping and sliding! Here's a link to a super neat video that was taken-and yes, it was that frozen and slippery!

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/765620999/Winter-ice-storm-creates-new-mode-of-transportation-for-BYU-students-video.html?pg=all

After lunch, T still had another class, so C and I did homework in the Maeser building until she was done. Then it was time to get ready for my cleaning check, bake some cookies for E., and crash his house and have a movie party night. The Italian Job was just as good as I remembered it! Though it did seem to swear more...but that might be the effect of living in the Provo bubble :)

Today will hopefully bring getting homework finished up, laundry (..maybe), a workout, and the usual fun with the usual suspects.

Disappointment of a day.

Tonight our Zumba class was canceled! So I'm writing this in kind of a sad mood. Even if we did get a Pinterest-inspired workout in, it just wasn't the same as good old Zumba!

Today turned out to be an interesting day, summed up perfectly in two words: freezing rain. When I left for my eight o'clock class, it was just raining, even tho my weather app said it was 28 degrees. Well. After I came out of class, the entire ground had frozen over into a giant ice rink, and the ground crews hadn't distributed salt yet. I felt very much like a penguin as I waddled my way across campus.

After classes, it was homework time, a long overdue byusa expectations meeting to make me an official member, and then dinner and the (lack of a) Zumba class!

Tomorrow is the first day of PYM or Provo youth mentoring for the second semester. I'm so glad that my schedule worked out so I can keep helping the same girl!

And finally. The photos! I'm posting this from my phone so we'll see how it goes.....

middle of the week madness.

Woohoo! It's already halfway through the week. Wednesday was classes, homework, Pilates with T., and even the gym for a little bit. Not too exciting, but that's life! It's supposed to start to snow/rain through the weekend-brrr. Hopefully enough snow for sledding, but not too much for a blizzard!

mond...wait, no, tuesday!

You just have to love those three-day weekends. Not only do they get you an extra day of the weekend, but they put you one day closer to the next weekend! It's nice to think that tomorrow's Wednesday.

Anyway, sentiments for the weekend aside, today was quite the day. Just busy busy busy. Walking to class this morning I ran into K. going to her first nursing lab-aren't those 8 a.m. classes just great? We both looked wide awake and beautiful, I'm sure...

t. braided my hair! which=curly!!!
I was kind of frustrated with calculus today. What a surprise. Believe it or not, but I actually have to start re-learning and learning concepts...I just can't breeze by. Aww man. It was so nice-unfortunately, it looks like the math lab will become my second home for this semester if things keep going the way they have for the past week. Let's hope not. After all my classes and the entire afternoon in the lab, it was time for a quick dinner with M., T., and C.-then off to ARC where I listened to Dee give a lecture on using digital in Amateur Radio.
tadah.
T. definitely got me at dinner, though-"Won't you ever move on to professional radio?!" (accompanied by much laughter at her own geeky joke :). The life of a ham...

After ARC I made it to Zumba...dun dun dun dunnn....ALONE. Yes, I tried to shake and shimmy and sashay in front of a million strangers. I nearly died in the beginning, but then realized that everyone else was probably (hopefully) just looking at the instructor so I might as well make it the best workout ever. Which it can be! It's actually quite cardio-intense.

Tomorrow brings......classes, homework, and maybe some Pilates. The life of a college kid.

back to provo.

Hmmmph. That's the sound of a long sigh, an unhappy and unsatisfied sigh. This weekend was so nice- that little break was a perfect mini-vacation. Alpine was so much fun, and it wasn't like we did anything over the top or super ambitious. It was just a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend. Lots of movies were watched and revisited, dance parties happened, and some baking too! So, without further ado, here is the Martin Luther King Day slideshow of our goings on. I do not feel ready to get back into homework and hassles and hurrying...
starting off right with a delicious breakfast. can I tell you
how nice and fun it was to cook for ourselves?
just some morning cribbage.
Like I said, we got to enjoy the rest of the day reading, napping, watching movies (Tarzan!!), finishing up homework, playing games, and cooking.

dinner.

crazy cake. it tasted about as good as it looked.

no birthdays to sing about, so it was the welcome song from
primary instead!

attempt at a cool inside=uhh what is that?
The nice thing about this week is that it will be shorter, but I guarantee it won't be any easier. I'm looking forward to doing yoga or Zumba again tomorrow-we'll see how it goes!

sunday: superbowl bound!!

So the 49ers are headed to the Super Bowl! Shout out to my Bay Area football team. Today I went to C.'s ward with her and had a great time before heading up to ALPINE for t. yeeaw. So far we've had some delicious tomato soup and grilled cheese, been reminiscing over some sweet old photos, and are ready to go sled tomorrow!!

on the road again.

timpanogos temple trip!

Friday was fun, which meant that I stayed up late and didn't blog. Sorry! So here's the catch-up for yesterday and today.

Friday: it snowed a little bit the night before, so the clouds still covered the mountain on my walk to school. I also self-packaged and shipped some textbooks back because I didn't need them. I was done with classes by 11, so I did some homework so that when T. and C. got out we could head to lunch! Then it was some more homework and a writing lab for las otras, and that night we headed to the much-anticipated volleyball game! Our men's volleyball team is ranked #3 in the nation, and that night we played UC Irvine, who is (was) #1. We won!!!!  It was a great game and lots of fun. T.'s friend M. came too! And then after the game we walked over to E.'s to watch Zoolander. Cool story, Hansel.

fresh snow!

poor college student packaging.

5000 people showed up for an epic game.

celebration!!!
Side note: the sis got bangs! And she looks great! Friday night was her headlining performance at a local spot; and I hear she did fantastic. As usual :)

lookin' good!
paparazzi? she's used to it.
So today I woke up early to head to the Timpanogos Temple with T., C., and M. (C.'s roommate). It was a wonderful experience. I have been worried about a lot of things lately, and going there today really gave me time to ponder and think about some things on my mind. Plus, the Spirit was super strong and, by the end of everything, I just felt so loved and empowered and ready to face whatever this semester brings.

After that, we all came back to Provo to change into regular clothes and wash the chlorine out of our hair, and then we headed to the Traverse Mtn. outlets because C. needed some new clothes. We hit up my FAVORITE store (take a wild wild guess at what it is...) as well as Gap, Banana Republic, Loft, etc.

sweet ties=just another justification for j.crew
After that, it was off to dinner with everyone, including C.'s brothers E. and E.! Then we did some grocery shopping for our TRIP tomorrow-we're headed to Alpine for sledding, hot tubbing, and relaxation :) I can't wait! It's so nice that it's only been half of the weekend...two more days to go! Woohoo for three-day vacations.
