thuper thursday.

Today was a pretty good day, albeit super duper busy! I headed off to chem, then to the library for a solid three hours to get some work done since my Book of Mormon class was canceled. Then, off to math lab, lunch with C., studying, taking my Book of Mormon test and getting a 97 on it, (woohoo!), coming back for dinner, going back to campus for a calc review, and working out on the elliptical with T. Whew!
silly lego books from home.
i secretly hope they got it!

And I'm super tired, so that's all, folks! Hopefully this weekend will be another great one!

halfway gone...

It's nearly the weekend! And I think that this last half of the week will be better than the first, which is awesome. Tomorrow I only have two classes since my poor Book of Mormon professor is sick. He's my New Testament teacher as well, and I noticed today in class that he wasn't sounding very good and correctly predicted his absence for tomorrow's class!

I took my New Testament test today and got a 91! I'm happy with it since it was definitely harder than the last one. Would you be able to answer what "yokemen" refers to in reference of I Thessalonians? Without looking at your scriptures? Side note-I don't know if I did, either! Plus, a 91 means that I only got 3 questions wrong. Woot woot!

blurry results.
I'll take my Book of Mormon test tomorrow, and then I'm done with tests for the week! Although some studying and reviews are going down this weekend in preparation for Calc and Chem....

Last but not least, a random happy picture for your viewing: Onnie is now an interior designer. Her latest commission: Platypus, a still life.

past my bedtime

Whoops. I overestimated how long this Chem assignment would be, so here's a quick recap of today!
Classes were the same old same old, and then it was off to lunch with C like we always do on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I headed off to the math lab and was hoping to get my homework done early so I could keep her company for a doctor's appointment today, but alas, Calculus had other plans. So it was back to the dorm to do work, take a break with BYU Hitlist and win a free song....
woohoo!
And then I picked up not one, but TWO packages-all full of toiletries, sorry to disappoint.
I can wash my hair again!
And then it was the usual dinner/workout evening sequence. Now I'm off to bed!
post-workout "glow" is more of a
gross drip...

New start to a new week.

Today was a typical Monday. Classes were attended, homework done, laundry washed and cleaned, Pilates, and even some planning for this spring! Other than that,  nothing else to report! The forum for tomorrow was canceled, so I'll just have even more time on my hands to finish up some work and hopefully be able to yoga and Zumba with C and T maƱana. I can't believe it's March 1st this Friday-time is flying by! I guess it really does fly when you're having fun...and still doing homework and projects, of course!

No fun pictures today, so I'll try to snap a few extra tomorrow to make up for it.

saturday/sunday.

Super fun Saturday and Sunday! Without further ado, here's the recap:

Saturday: took my Spanish test, got the same score as last time which was disappointing, visited the apartment we're looking at with T., because she thinks she's going to stay spring! Woohoo! We made breakfast for dinner and I opened C and T's eyes to the delicious world of Mapeline syrup (yum!), watched the men's volleyball game vs Stanford, which I was very conflicted about who to cheer for (BYU won in 5 sets-intense!), watched Super 8 on Netflix, and that was it!

Sunday: beautiful and sunny (but snow still everywhere), wonderful meetings, temple recommend renewed, and a delicious dinner of meatloaf, broccoli salad, homemade rolls, and potatoes cooked with love.

lovely potatoes!
Then a vicious game of PayDay and Sorry before watching the Oscar's!
I won!

and I lost to J-she had 11! so close but so far.
It was a wonderful weekend, and this week shouldn't be too crazy (I hope!) since I just have my Book of Mormon and New Testament tests/quizzes.

it's friday, friday...

And what a great Friday it was! After classes, it was a quick stop back home to clean/prepare for our cleaning check, which we passed with flying colors, and then back up to campus for mentoring! Today we were visited by the hip hop club, and had to learn a dance from them. All I can say is that it was a great reminder that I am NOT a dancer!

After mentoring, it was lunchtime and then study time. And truthfully, during study time, byuhitlist.com time. BYU Hitlist is a website where you can win prizes for things to do in Provo, and after a solid hour of doing this for C-
click..click..click...
...she won a $10 giftcard to Guru's, a Mexican restaurant in downtown p-town! Woohoo! After that, it was dinnertime and men's volleyball time! We beat Pacific in only three matches. I can't wait for tomorrow's game, though, because we play Stanford! I'll probably end up cheering for both teams...

finally got our pic with Cosmo!!!

After the game, we ran to make it to a surprise birthday party, and then convinced S. to come with us to see Warm Bodies! It was definitely funnier and cuter than we imagined.

c, t, and s

Not too shabby of a Friday night! Tomorrow I'm off to take my first-ever (and hopefully last) Saturday test (espaƱol), go to the volleyball game, and finish my never-ending calc homework! In closing-congrats to all the new cougars out there! It was so fun to see all my friends from back home who will be coming to BYU next year :)

Nearly Friday...

It's almost the weekend...again! Although I'm not too sure how relaxing it will be, as I'm going to have to take a Spanish test on Saturday. My first Saturday test ever-how exciting!

Today was Sweet Hour of Service, where we made a ton of hygiene kits for the Salvation Army. I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything ran! Our executive director couldn't make it, so it was kind of a trial by fire! And we passed with flying colors :) Besides SHOS, it was a cold, lightly snowy day. C and I went and checked out some more apartments, and this time, we think we might have found the one! Or at least what complex we want to live in. We'll just have to see how it goes!

After that was dinner, yoga, and now it's off to finish up more homework. It's always that calc that I delay...

whew of a wednesday.

Today was super crazy, and even though I accomplished a lot/worked on many things, I didn't get all my homework done so I felt like I accomplished nothing! Ahhhh!
In between my lunchtime and New Testament class, I headed over to check out an apartment that we're looking at-the Enclave. It was super cute, the random strangers walking to their own apartments were super friendly, and it looks perfect-but then I found out about their weird contract pricing, which is just a little over budget...so I don't think it will be a very likely scenario :( Maybe later, or maybe I can work extra hard this summer...
I went to check out another complex but nobody was home (..probably because it was lunchtime in the middle of the week..), so I'll have to check it out again later.

OOTD. because I felt like spring
even if the weather was wacko
While I'm walking from campus to look at all these apartments, I was also trying to get hotels to donate bath supplies for a hygiene kit drive that we're doing for Sweet Hour of Service...tomorrow. It wasn't the most organized I've seen BYUSA, and I'll leave it at that. But luckily, there are still some kind hotel managers in the world, and I was able to get a donation of ~225 bath gels from the Holiday Inn Express in Orem. Yes, that is a plug for them, because they were nice PLUS when I picked up the supplies the hotel itself looked super nice as well.

spiffy brand new hi-express.
BY SOME MIRACLE I NOW HAD 226 BATH GELS.
So that was a bit exciting, while I was trying to arrange everything and find a car to pick them up and then make it back to class on time. Whew. After New Testament I borrowed K's car and picked up and then dropped off the supplies; then it was back to the dorms to do some scholarship work and eat dinner and head to Pilates and get home taught and finish more homework and type this blog post before going to bed :)

by another miracle I remembered
my ACT/SAT logins. woohoo!
I thought three day weekends and the week after were supposed to be easy. At least I had this to MAKE MY DAY- a letter! A real live snail mail letter! Thanks Amma and Grandpa :)
the place of honor with my other love notes.
:)
I know tomorrow probably won't be any easier, but at least the week has gone by quickly!!!
Until tomorrow,

monday/really tuesday.

Today was a Monday schedule, even though it's technically Tuesday. Unfortunately...that means I have to go to all of the same classes two days in a row! Yuck. But truthfully, quite the first-world problem.

Nothing super eventful to report, except that I'm actually getting some options lined up for spring housing, homework is still here, and I was late to yoga tonight. I don't even have any pictures!

Tomorrow is the usual, but I can hopefully go look at one of the condos I'm interested in, get visit-taught, and marvel at how it's the middle of the week already!

PS-I wanted to switch things up from the polka dot! So it might be a different background every day until I find a new one that fits.. :)

happy presidents' day!

The final few hours of freedom before I have to go to bed and the school cycle starts up again....sigh. Man, it was hard to come back to the dorms tonight. It was so much fun to head down to sunny St. George and see Pa+Louise, travel with the W's, and watch S. play some awesome games of soccer on two beautifully sunny days. I'm just not ready for tests, quizzes, and a forecast of snow on Wednesday...

I don't know if it was because I spent so much time with family for so long and then it had to end abruptly or what, but when I got back to the dorms I was struck by how much I miss my family back home in California! Don't get me wrong-I'm super happy to be at BYU and am having a great time, but every once in a blue moon I do get a little sad that I can't see their smiling (or yelling or screaming or crying :) faces all the time!

Anyway, sob story over, the weekend was great! I even got a little pink on my shoulder from soaking in all that sunny sun! It was quite the shock to unload the car in Spanish Fork and see that the thermometer read a balmy 30 degrees...

Thanks again to all of you who helped get me down there! It's nice to take a break from the bubble every once in a while.

random? you bet. but why not?!
This week is pretty light, but I do have a Spanish test this Friday/Saturday that I want to be extra prepared for. Other than that, it's just the usual classes/homework/exercise routine!

inspired sunday.

Well. Today was an interesting church day, to say the least. It was definitely an older ward...aka everyone there was over the age of seventy five except for about ten other people. So singing in Relief Society was a bit warbly! Our lesson was all about family history, and since it's about the third lesson I've had in church about family history this month, so I finally signed up and downloaded everything so I can index. Grandma Ann-I might be calling you in case I need any help indexing, and Amma/Grandpa-if I need to figure out my own family history, I'll be counting on you!
getting started and watching
the tutorial video!
Dinner was some delicious chicken, brown rice, and asparagus, with some oatmeal chocolate chip/butterscotch cookies. That and a nap right before dinner=heaven. Skype later that night was fun to catch up with the fam, except this thing had sooo much attitude.

"I won't look at you...I won't look at you..."
Monday is more soccer games and a quick trip to the outlets! Should be lots of fun :) And then, the dreaded return back to Utah Valley...where it's supposed to snow on Wednesday and apparently the air quality is worse than ever. Woohoo.

Saturday, February 16, 2013

super saturday.

The best part about today: I woke up at 8:30 am without an alarm clock! Probably because I actually went to bed at a decent hour last night, instead of the usual 2 am... I went to S.'s soccer game with the family at 11 (only the dedicated parents made it to the 8 am game), and then we came back for lunch and relaxation! It was so nice to sit out in the sun at the soccer game, and then come back for some homework and Downton Abbey time. Which-I finally finished the season three finale-is a HORRIBLE cliffhanger! Ahh! I kind of knew what was coming, but still! It was awful! Then it was a quick trip to look at the (sparse) outlets with J., dinner, and a game of greed and some frozen custard at Nielsen's. Yum! Now it's off to bed for 9 am church tomorrow...

sunny st. george skies!

Road Trip!

I write this from St. George, Utah! For the three day weekend, I hitched a ride down with J&J because S has a soccer tournament and I wanted to finally visit Pa and Louise's house! We're staying with them-S and I took took over the attic room, and A. has to live with a mat on the floor. Sorry buddy!

Today's recap:

my pyromaniac chem teacher.

funny and quite accurate :)

safely arrived in St. George!
can you spot the puppy?

The soccer tournament starts tomorrow, and we can hopefully walk around town since we're super close to the adorable-looking downtown. I saw some stores that I certainly wouldn't mind checking out to get my shopping fix...

Thursday Recap

Whew. Happy Valentine's Day! Life around here has been busy. While I haven't had any tests this week, except for a quick vocab test in Spanish tomorrow, I have had mountains of homework! Which unfortunately means that I've had to stay up later. Luckily, I've been able to still wake up on time and everything, but it's been tough!

I woke up to our cute hall all decorated! I just love pink and red color combos :) Then it was off to class and, during my midmorning break, visiting the library for, you guessed it, free swag! Because you know by now that I would do anything for a free t-shirt...

blurry but colorful!
there I am!

we even got to visit with royalty!
