hike & light the Y!

Today I had my usual classes, a Homecoming pep rally instead of devotional in the Marriott Center, then a meeting with my Spanish study buddy, and finally at 5 o'clock I headed over to the beautiful Hinckley Center to help volunteer for the Homecoming event of hiking and then lighting up the Y on the mountain.
Blurry, but the marching band getting
us pumped up!
For my volunteer position, I worked at the Hinckely Center to get all interested participants to fill out a waiver, receive a free flashlight, and then get bussed off to Y mountain. It was fun just chatting with everybody while they waited for the busses and meeting new people like I. and M., who worked the station with me. Plus, we got awesome long-sleeved t-shirts for volunteering! I was volunteering with the Amateur Radio Club, so our club actually got paid to volunteer at this event! Awesome. Most of the people had left by about 6:50, so T. from the ARC and I went out to grab a quick bite of (what we thought would be) Indian food in downtown P-town. We got there and found that a Vietnamese restaurant had replaced it! So pho instead of naan and marsala.
My first bowl of pho ever!
I was adventurous and had some tripe:)
Not bad! Yummy with some lime and jalapeño.
The best part? Sodas came free with our meal, and they had DR. PEPPER. And not just Dr. Pepper, but CAFFEINATED Dr. Pepper. Win all around.
My drug of choice.
Fortune cookies came as well, of course, and mine was rather apt for the situation: "The prettiest quality is working to serve others". Like helping out at this event!

Sorry if the quality is awful...it's because I have a
dumb phone. If I had an IPHONE, things would be different...
On our way out, there were three little music venues/cafés with open mic nites/theatres all lit up with performers outside! Once again, awful quality, but there were a bunch of guitarists and a guy playing what looked like a box...it made me think of how well THIS GIRL would fit in.
You're welcome. FLASHBACK.
Here's my trying-not-to-disturb-wild-hipsters photo. Cute little indie cafés/I think one was an independent theatre with their people all outside...we even saw some guy dressed to the nines-hipster style ride up on his vintage Schwinn. So eco-friendly, musical, and stylin! A.-YOUR PEOPLE ARE HERE! Plus they're Mormon (or at least greatly Mormon-influenced!) and your people so you wouldn't have to worry about suspicious substances abounding :) Well, hopefully you wouldn't have to!
Casual stalker pic. Yes, one of the guys is playing a box.

So that was my Tuesday. How was yours?
