the adult life

Life as an adult...a college adult...is not always very exciting. The weekends are fun, but weekdays, especially Mondays, involve school, lunch, more school, and then homework. If you're on top of it, you can squeeze in a workout too, sweating out stress in the Smith Field House.

But on your very FIRST day as an adult, it's kind of exhilarating. You're a grown up-officially! Even Facebook sends you a notification that you are now using the site as an ADULT, not a minor. You can get married (ring by spring?), go to jail, and do all sorts of un-Honor Code-sanctioned activities. And your awesome friends and school make a typical Monday into something special-in 18 ways:

1) You wake up to texts from across the country
2) Everyone in your hall know it's your birthday, thanks to some fancy decorations
3) Your day is brightened by heartfelt and funny poems
 4) Compliments galore, courtesy of cute headbands! (thanks J :)
5) Yummy lunch with some interesting strangers at the Wilk... M from Idaho knows what I mean...
6) Packages from home that include:
7) Adorable pillows from my favorite designer-yay for Kate Spade!
8)  Flowers! From super sweet suitemate B.
9) Dinner at the Cannon Center wasn't very special...but eating lunchables with C. was!! Just reliving my childhood :)
10) Birthday phone calls allllll the way from the wettest state ever; Wisconsin.
11) Watching Betty La Fea, a Colombian soap opera, for Spanish homework.
12) Earning brownie points for tutoring C. in calculus...oh the adventures in math land!
13) Receiving cookies! Deeelish from K.
 14) Testing out The Cocoa Bean-nothing can ever replace Icing on the Cake, but these weren't bad, especially with my favorite girlfriends.
16) Last-minute late night calc study parties...
17) Just realizing life is pretty good, and finally
18) Being thankful for all the blessings and opportunities I have!
It was definitely weird not being home to celebrate, but I'm glad I could have my own little birthday bash on my own. It was nice still getting presents from home, though, as well as the traditional card from Grandma A. and Papa O. And with that,

:)
